Fostering a culture of mutual respect in the workplace is successful when everyone is committed to that goal. Respectful behavior may be intuitive to some in the office, but most people can benefit from a reminder of how to act on their best and most respectful instincts. As you search for work or start a new job, you can set an example as someone who tries to treat others with respect and convey that feeling in an interview and in your first interactions with your new coworkers. #EdgeConcepts #Respect #WorkEnvironment https://lnkd.in/eGkbfqzz

🌟 Curious about a company's culture before you join? Here are 5 must-ask questions during your interview: 1️⃣ "Could you describe the company's culture in your own words?" This open-ended question allows the interviewer to share their personal perspective, giving you an authentic glimpse into the daily work environment. 2️⃣ "How does the company support professional development and growth?" This shows you're keen to progress and also reveals if they invest in their employees' futures. 3️⃣ "Can you give examples of how the company lives out its values?" Companies often tout their values, but their real culture shines through in actions, not just words. 4️⃣ "What are the team's rituals for celebrating success?" This can tell you a lot about the company's approach to recognition and camaraderie. 5️⃣ "How does the company approach work-life balance?" The answer will help you understand the expectations and pressures you might face outside of standard working hours. Remember, an interview is a two-way street. It's about finding the right fit for both parties. Don't shy away from asking these insightful questions to ensure their values align with yours. 🌟 #JobInterview #CompanyCulture #CareerGrowth

Gen Z has forgotten the basics of respect. Recently, a young applicant called the interviewer a b*tch. It's troubling to see such behavior from the next generation. Recently, Senain Sawant, founder of Grump start-up, shared a shocking experience on LinkedIn. During an interview, an applicant faced technical difficulties and the interviewer asked him to call later when the issue was solved. After the call, the applicant sent her a WhatsApp message calling her a “bi**h” for speaking with what he perceived as “arrogance.” This incident raises a serious question: “Have we lost sight of basic respect and professionalism?” Responding to frustration with insults isn’t just unprofessional; it’s ETHICALLY WRONG. Calling anyone disrespectful names reflects poorly on one’s character and judgment. Yes, Gen Z brings fresh ideas and tech-savvy skills, but it’s crucial they also show fundamental values like respect and courtesy. We must know the importance of thoughtful communication and maintaining professionalism, even in tough situations. But this issue isn’t just about Gen Z; it’s about all of us. Respect is a two-way street. No matter the circumstances, responding with kindness and professionalism will always leave a lasting, positive impression. Respect should be the foundation of any interaction, especially in professional settings. How can we, as a generation, build the importance of respect in every interaction? And as part of Gen Z, how do you ensure your words reflect your values and make a positive impact? #HR #Employee #Manpower #Interview #Job

"I CAN SUE YOU FOR THAT" - A cautionary tale John had been with the company for five years and was eagerly waiting for a promotion. When he finally got called in for an interview, he was excited and confident. However, things quickly turned sour when the interviewer asked, "Do you have any children or plans to start a family soon?" John was shocked and offended. He knew that this type of question was illegal and discriminatory. He replied, "That question is inappropriate and illegal. I can sue you for asking that." The interviewer, taken aback, stumbled to apologize and move on to other questions. But the damage had been done. John left the interview feeling angry and disheartened. Dear Business Owners, Line Managers, HR Pros, questions like: "When do you intend to get married?" "Will you be having more children?" "Are you a Christian/Muslim/Traditionalist?" etc. are biased, morally wrong, and can put your company in a bad light. Every employee wants to enjoy a culture of inclusivity and respect in the workplace so let us focus on what counts - the abilities, knowledge, potential, and contributions the employee can make to your business. Personal aspects of their lives should not be a factor in promotion decisions. Agree? Are there other inappropriate work phrases that should be avoided? I would like to read more in the comment session. #Mind2screen #inappropriateworkphrases #promotion #skills #promotioncriteria #inclusivity

No Ghosts this Halloween! It’s frightening to witness the prevalence of 'ghosting' in the hiring process. What happened to the fundamental common courtesy of closing the loop with candidates? It’s crucial to offer timely feedback and clarity on next steps to maintain a respectful and transparent recruitment experience. Candidates, you play a pivotal role too – communication is a two-way street. Responding promptly to express interest or disinterest in a role is equally important. Setting clear expectations and timelines post-interview is vital. Despite potential delays, consistent communication is non-negotiable. Transparency throughout the process fosters candidate engagement even when unforeseen circumstances arise. Searches may encounter hurdles beyond our control, but maintaining open dialogue with candidates is key to keeping them invested and engaged. Honesty and transparency are universally valued, while silence breeds frustration and uncertainty. Let’s all aim for better communication in the hiring journey! #Ricsearch #Morethanarecruiter #TalentAcquisition #Recruitment #CandidateExperience #Communication #Transparency

I'll save you a click: the advice is not to ask about work-life balance. The article suggests that "Asking hiring managers about the company’s work-life balance can create an impression that you aren’t engaged, reliable or committed to the role." How do you feel about the question? Is it a fair one to ask in the interview process? Does it signal any red flags? If so, what do you think is a better way to ask the question?

Before you jump into a new job, make sure you're not walking into another bad situation. Breakasweat By Reshma Merchant - Workplace Wellness | Driving Wellness Solutions, Bespoke Experiences and Engagements
Today a very interesting thought crossed my mind : Instead of seeing your mundane work routine as a hindrance to your passion, view it as a canvas for creativity and innovation. Every task, no matter how routine, offers an opportunity to inject your unique perspective, skills, and enthusiasm. By approaching each day with a mindset of curiosity and a commitment to excellence, you can transform even the most mundane tasks into meaningful contributions that align with your passion and purpose. For example : Let’s consider 3 tasks 1. Reviewing resumes 2. Conducting interviews 3. Company Culture Here are my 2 cents of how you could infuse passion and innovation into these activities: Reviewing Resumes : Instead of simply scanning resumes for qualifications, approach each one with curiosity and empathy. Look beyond the bullet points to understand the person behind the document. Consider how their unique experiences and skills could contribute to the team culture or bring fresh perspectives to the organization. Interviews : Rather than following a standard script, personalize your approach to each interview. Take the time to really connect with candidates, asking thoughtful questions that go beyond the surface to uncover their passions, values, and motivations. Create an environment where they feel comfortable expressing themselves authentically, allowing you to gauge not only their qualifications but also their potential to fit within the company culture. Company Culture: Rather than simply enforcing policies and procedures, actively cultivate a positive and inclusive company culture. Encourage open communication, collaboration, and recognition of individual contributions. Organize events and initiatives that celebrate diversity, promote well-being, and foster a sense of belonging among employees. By infusing passion and innovation into your daily routine, you can create a more engaging and fulfilling work environment for both yourself and your colleagues, while also driving positive outcomes for the organization as a whole. #reshmamerchant #iammultifit #multifitwellness #passionandinnovation #mentalhealth #corporatewellness #corporateculture #healthypractices #healthandwellness #advocatinghealth #mindbodyandsoul #corporatehealthandwellbeing #WellnessCulture #HealthyHappyHour #wellnessworkplace Multifit Wellness

So you landed that big interview! Congrats! I was recently prepping a candidate for an interview and she asked me how to tell if a company is a good cultural fit. Here are some red flags that an employer may not be the right fit. 🛑Lack of transparency If the company culture is not transparent, it can be difficult for you to know if the company is a good fit. The hiring manager should clearly communicate the company’s vision and goals. 🛑Lack of trust and accountability If there is a lack of trust and accountability in the leadership, it can be a sign of a misaligned workplace culture. 🛑Interactions with the hiring manager During the interview, pay attention to how well you get along with the hiring manager. Is there a genuine connection? Ensuring alignment in company culture is vital for long-term job satisfaction and success.
