The image below shows a typical molding run, where the entire tool cavity is brought from room temperature up to the plastic melting temperature, held while the material is molded, and then cooled under force back to room temperature. It’s always impossible until it is not. This customer was getting rejection after rejection from a major medical device OEM due to parts sticking and deformation. A wee bit of cooling in the cores solved that problem and the molder was able to remove 200% inspection, eliminate a ton of scrap and avoid rejections.
