💥What a Difference a Year Makes!💥 Exactly one year ago, I attended my first Darm conference with just my iPad in hand, stopping property managers with one line: “Let me show you something that will blow your mind.” That moment wasn’t just the start of Boom—it was the beginning of something that’s now making waves in the industry. Fast forward to this year’s Darm, and it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. Over the past year, Boom has evolved from a promising idea to a force of disruption. While European conventions amplified our presence, this Darm event marked our true breakthrough in the US market. Property managers didn’t just listen—they understood the transformation Boom brings to the table. Winning the Battleground competition alongside my brother Alon Goldboim was a surreal and deeply emotional moment. Sharing that stage and carrying the message of Boom’s vision together was unforgettable. What made it even more special was having the entire team—Alex O. Husner🌎, Chad Blankenship, Idan Carmi, Alon Goldboim, Tsolo Dakov, Guy Tapeta, Chris Mills —all in one place. The energy, collaboration, and shared passion in that room were unmatched. When this team comes together, ideas flow, respect grows, and our shared mission becomes even clearer. A big shoutout to Amy Hinote for hosting what is, without a doubt, the best event in the US industry. The venue was perfectly chosen, creating a seamless environment for networking both inside and outside the conference. The sessions were packed with high-quality content, and the flow between booths kept conversations engaging and meaningful. Every detail, from the setup to the thoughtful logistics, made this event exceptional. To the Darm organizers, thank you for creating an event that elevates our industry. 🌟 An Examination of the Irish Event Industry Based on Pine & Gilmores Experience Economy Realms🌟 Event industry folk, Have you ever wondered the transformative power of event experiences in today's Irish experience economy? Joseph Pine and James Gilmore introduced the concept of the "experience economy," highlighting experiences as the new economic frontier in the wake of a heavily goods-dominated market. Fast forward to today, and it's fascinating to witness how businesses are sculpting their operations and how consumers engage with them, all through the lens of staged experiences guided by the Realms of Experience framework. Recently, I delved into a captivating study examining the application of these frameworks within Ireland's vibrant event industry. It was an eye-opening journey, uncovering the presence of the 4 P's—Education, Entertainment, Esthetic, and Escapism—and how they intricately shape the event landscape. Moreover, amidst the exploration, the recurring theme of Service Dominant Logic emerged, underscoring the pivotal role of clients as catalysts for extended network value creation. Delving deeper, I encountered Donald Getz's tri-component theory, which provided invaluable insights into consumer behavior, cognition, and affectivity—essential facets that define and enrich event experiences. This study reaffirmed what I've always believed: clients are not just stakeholders; they are invaluable sources of learning and growth. Their feedback is not just crucial; it's indispensable. Next to the desire to find „Purpose“ in an experience driven society and the „Digitalization“ that disrupts many ways we are used to do business it is „Sustainability“ that will have a fundamental impact on how we deliver and consume live events in the future. #geobiz - WHY I WON’T BE THERE. I have always looked forward to the the UK’s annual survey show in the various forms it has manifested itself over my 40 years in the industry. But sadly that’s no longer the case. This year I’m not going to bother. The current format of Geobiz has ruined the experience for me. The survey show/exhibition (whatever you want to call it) was never just a trade show to see the latest equipment - and it was always a lot more than just a couple of days of seeing the lastest toys to buy, an evening meal and an insufferably dull after-dinner presentation. It was a social glue for the industry. A chance to network, chat about the state of things and pick up the latest gossip. It was always at a not-particularly-high-end venue that moved around the country so most people could get to it every few years - it was cheap for exhibitors and had a folksy feel that made us all think it was OUR event. That has all gone. The event, and I think the industry, is now a lot poorer for it. Geobiz is now just a relatively small part of the huge Digital Construction event. It’s bland and it’s lost. There are far more people there - many times the amount exhibitors could have expected in the old days - but the vast majority aren’t genuine prospects, they’ve just wandered in from the other Digital Construction halls. I find I meet fewer people in the crowds and expanse of EXCEL in a day than I met in half an hour in the previous venues. Maybe I’m being unrealistic on wanting to go back to a survey show that is much smaller, purely dedicated to our industry and changes venue each year. I’m not saying I’ll never go to Geobiz again but it’s gone much lower down my list of priorities each time I’ve made the dreadful journey to Docklands and paid £10 for a crappy cheese sandwich. Is it just me who thinks we had something much better before?

The Event That Changed Everything… It was 2017, and we had just landed one of our biggest corporate clients. They needed a massive event setup: a German hanger, custom wooden stages, MOZO barricading, and more, all for a nationwide product launch. We knew this was our chance to prove what Top Notch Enterprises was capable of. But as with any large-scale event, not everything went according to plan. Two days before the event, we were hit with logistical challenges—unexpected weather changes threatened to delay our setup. Our team was faced with one of the toughest decisions: give in to the challenges or adapt fast. We chose to adapt. Working through the night, adjusting our plan to secure the German hangers against the weather, and creating flexible solutions with our barricades and stages, we managed to not only meet but exceed expectations. That event taught us that no challenge is too big when you have a dedicated team and the right tools. Today, we continue to provide in-house setups for events of all sizes, always ready to overcome any obstacle. This project marked a significant shift for us – from an emerging player to a trusted event partner. We’re grateful for every challenge because it’s made us who we are today.
