Do you love or hate learning?
Being in the Aviation Industry means that there is an expectation to learn.
There are courses to take, standards to meet and exams to pass. Sometimes it’s a lot.
Sometimes we just want to learn and not be tested at the end. Just take in the information, maybe discuss some points and then finish with a sense of satisfaction knowing we have learned something but haven’t had to pass a test to show it.
This is one of the reasons why I give my time and provide free events for Aviators to attend. I provide a different take on areas in Aircraft Maintenance that will increase or refresh your engineering know-how without the pressure of being mandated.
When was the last time you attended something to better yourself that wasn’t a requirement from your school or employer?
Can’t remember?
Never done something you didn’t have to?
Why not join my next free event?
We will be looking at 3 useful manuals/documents and pulling out some tips and tricks I have learned throughout my career. There will be time to chat and interact with others in the industry but no pressure to pass an exam.
I would love to see you there.

Veteran Aviation Journalist focussing on creating aviation/aerospace education ecosysystems connecting kids and parents to aviation and aerospace career opportunities
#aviation has a lot of #workforceshortages and it is no different for the #training industry. This article points out the shortage of #simulatortechnicians. Sims are in overdrive these days so have technicians to keep them healthy is really important.
"As the aviation sector grows, particularly in emerging markets, the demand for knowledgeable and experienced technicians outstrips supply. HAVELSAN addresses this challenge by #recruiting and deploying its own specially trained personnel to provide support services not only domestically but also in various international regions."
This is what more an more aviation service companies are doing -- creating their own training programs. Sounds like a great #aviationcareer.

To become a #pilot, there are several steps that one needs to follow:
1. Obtain a High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent education is usually required for aspiring pilots. This provides basic knowledge and skills necessary for pursuing higher education in aviation.
2. Attend Aviation School: Next, students must enroll in flight training programs offered at aviation schools or colleges. These courses typically range from 30 hours to 120 hours long and cover topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, navigation, meteorology, and flight physics. Completing these courses enables individuals to obtain their Private Pilot License (PPL).
3. Build Flight Experience: After obtaining their PPL, candidates need to build flight experience through logged flight hours with certified instructors. This helps them gain confidence, improve their flying skills, and qualify for more advanced certifications.
4. Earn Advanced Certifications: Aspiring commercial pilots will need additional certifications beyond their PPL before they can apply for jobs at airlines. Some common certifications include Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Multi-Engine Rating, and Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP).
5. Apply for Jobs at Airlines: Once qualified, pilots can start applying for jobs at various airlines based on their preferences, certification levels, and flying experience. They may also consider joining airline training programs to enhance their career prospects further.
6. Stay Updated with Industry Changes: Finally, it's crucial to stay updated about changes and advancements in aviation technology, regulations, and safety protocols to maintain proficiency throughout one’s career as a pilot. Continuous learning contributes significantly to staying competitive and relevant in this field.
Note: Becoming a pilot requires dedication, hard work, persistence, and financial investment towards acquiring education and licenses. It's essential to ensure that one meets all eligibility requirements set forth by aviation authorities before embarking on this journey.

Cockpit Familiarization
I was privileged to be selected to take my colleagues EFIS Cockpit familiarization during our field work, an aspect of ATR 42/72 Type Rating course.
Incomprehensible and perplexing Aircraft cockpit used to appear to me as a Trainee. From the cockpit console, to the instrument panel, to the central pedestal, to the overhead panel, to the maintenance panel, to the Circuit breakers… It was just a whole lot for me.
I once met an Engineer who has the picture of an Aircraft Cockpit in his memory and could perfectly describe almost everything and correct locations off hand. This was a big deal to a Trainee like me
This challenged me and I made it a duty to visit the cockpit more frequently with Engineers, watch videos on cockpit familiarization, study manuals and keep a small jotter.
Definitely it wasn't a day’s job, Newbies should not be too harsh on themselves on this.
Fast forward to my ATR 42/72 Type course when our instructor Houssaine Elasli selected me to take my colleagues EFIS Cockpit Familiarization while my colleagues were to handle other sections/systems of the Aircraft.
It was a walkover for me due to the attention I have been giving to the cockpit since my Trainee. Furthermore, I learnt more from my colleagues' questions and my instructor's contributions.
For me learning continues, it's the same reason I always prefer to sit in the cockpit with the flight crew during flight because you learn more about the cockpit inflight.
It's good as AME when you can work on the systems of aircraft and also can perform cockpit tasks such as operations Test/checks accurately in accordance with your manual and your licence privileges.
