Solid state cooling, or thermoelectric cooling, has been a viable alternative for years but the recent explosion in cooling demand has finally presented solid-state cooling with its moment to shine in data center applications. Richard, from the time of the ASME SHTC 2023 panel that you attended - the science and technology in this area have moved forward, quite a bit. Hope things are picking up at Accelsius as well. My team’s R&D milestones have covered a lot of new ground - we offer high heat flux cooling along with well tested thermal systems and waste heat recovery (into clean electricity) potential. Some of these new grounds are being achieved with support from NSF and industry partners. We are looking forward to working with partners (such as Vertiv and Vertiv’s partners) to translate our R&D. We believe our R&D (and other R&Ds which are in the same or supportive/complementary areas) will get translated because it addresses the critical needs of our times - which was quite ably and eloquently highlighted by the leaders present at Vertiv’s 2024 Technology Fair (June 24-27). I agree with you on the need to do Direct on Chip liquid cooling - using engineered fluids (such as Novec 649) - to address high heat flux cooling needs (and, where feasible, waste heat recovery in the form of clean electricity) of next-gen AI data centers.
