Here are my takeaways from a recent video by The IT Media Group discussing the dynamics of law, ethics, and corporate culture in the context of #AIAdoption.
I highly recommend watching this short video—it’s insightful and timely.
👉 Dominique Payette on ethical and legal frameworks:
1️⃣ AI governance intersects with other legislations, including Privacy, Intellectual Property, and Financial Institution regulations.
2️⃣ AI regulations can be principle-based or rule-based. Canada’s AI regulation, "AIDA," uses a principle-based approach, encouraging innovation.
👉 Jesslyn Dymond on ethical considerations and societal impact:
1️⃣ Trust is key to adopting AI responsibly. Organizations need to prioritize data ethics to earn public trust.
2️⃣ Innovation should be human-centric. This ensures that AI development aligns with societal values and expectations.
👉 Katrina Ingram on practical approaches and best practices:
1️⃣ AI does not inherently equate to ROI. Avoid the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) trap.
2️⃣ Ask, “Where does AI stand in my organization?” Identifying AI sources, including shadow AI, is crucial to assess and manage ethical risks. Engage executive leadership and set up an AI Ethics Committee to make ethical choices actionable.

Fusion Strategy: Power the Future with Generative AI and Real-Time Data with The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth Professor Vijay Govindarajan
To compete in the new digital age, companies need to use real-time data to turbocharge their products, strategies, and customer relationships. In this short video, Tuck Executive Education professor Vijay “VG” Govindarajan, co-director of the Global Leadership Program, gives leaders across industry a sneak peek into how to harness real-time data and AI to create competitive advantage.
The power of generative AI (GenAI) is now more accessible thanks to advancements in cloud computing, mobile technology, the web, and open-source contributions. What that means is, unprecedented opportunities have opened up! For example, even a small startup can utilize GenAI to provide personalized customer service, leveling the playing field with larger enterprises. Therefore it is time for enterprises to embrace GenAI strategically. This whitepaper from DataStax presents a compelling argument for Operationalizing GenAI, moving beyond isolated use cases to an enterprise-wide operationalization. Here are some key takeaways:
Leadership Collaboration: The success of GenAI hinges on a unified approach from the entire leadership team. Transformative success with GenAI requires proactive leadership. Leaders must inspire their teams to innovate with GenAI. It’s not just a CIO’s concern; it’s an organizational imperative.
Mission Command Philosophy: Borrowing from military strategy, the concept of ‘mission command’ is recommended for GenAI deployment. We like to summarise it as the report says “the simplest possible story of what must be done and why.” It emphasizes a clear ‘commander’s intent’ and encourages ‘disciplined initiative’ among employees.
Delegate, Accelerate, Invent Framework: This strategic framework is proposed to guide enterprises in harnessing GenAI. It involves delegating tasks to GenAI, accelerating growth within current business models, and inventing new opportunities. An example of this would be a company implementing a GenAI integration process that includes stages for ideation, development, testing, and deployment.
Human-Centric Approach: Despite GenAI’s superhuman capabilities, human oversight remains crucial. The importance of human ingenuity and autonomy in maximizing GenAI’s potential is huge. For instance, there should be a set framework to both communicate the organization’s overall GenAI priorities and to enable managers to allocate resources accordingly within their local context. It’s about creating a synergy between technology and human talent to unlock unprecedented growth and innovation.
Cultivating Ingenuity: The whitepaper advocates for a culture that encourages employees to innovate with GenAI, leveraging their unique insights and creativity.
Enterprises are at a pivotal juncture, in the rapidly evolving landscape of Generative AI (GenAI). Chet Kapoor, Chairman & CEO at DataStax urges that CIOs and leaders who want to ride the new wave must act now and act decisively. Leaders want to move beyond implementing AI "use case by use case" toward achieving a broader, faster impact. But they don't know HOW.
Our latest whitepaper explores Mission Command (based on military leadership philosophy) as a framework to help organizations operationalize Gen AI. The approach is three-pronged:
👩💻 Delegate tasks to Gen AI to free up human care & attention for higher-value tasks
🌱 Accelerate growth using Gen AI in the business that the organization is already in
🚀 Invent “what’s next” to expand the organization’s business opportunity using Gen AI
Every CIO should give this a read: https://lnkd.in/gA88C7kC#GenAI#whitepaper#missioncommand
