I couldn't agree with your viewpoint more. In the rapid development of downtown Toronto, historical landmarks have lost their place, and all preserved buildings, with their so-called "shells," have lost their own historical narratives. As a complete structure, every material and structure should reflect the unique characteristics of that building. This concerns the technology of its construction and the aesthetics popular during its respective era. The most fascinating aspect of historical buildings is sometimes their ability to evoke the scenes of their original use without needing words—they are stories in themselves. Yet, in Toronto now, there are fewer and fewer buildings that can tell such stories, which is regrettable for the city. In contrast, Montreal and Quebec City excel much more in preserving buildings from an architectural conservation perspective. Walking through the streets of Quebec, one can truly feel the charm of the city and the historical legacy left by the French in this region. Furthermore, from a sustainability standpoint, demolishing buildings outright and using completely new materials is not environmentally friendly. As an architect, it's crucial, both for environmental reasons and budget considerations, to reconsider the materials that can be reused from existing buildings.

🌏 WHO CARES OUR BUILDING STAND FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS? **The Enduring Legacy of Architecture: A Reflection on Time and Civilization** As I strolled through the weathered stones of ancient ruins, I was struck by a profound thought: Why should we care if our buildings stand for thousands of years? These structures are not mere relics; they are timeless testaments to human endeavor. Their enduring presence prompts a critical question for our modern age—why do we strive to create buildings that last far beyond our lifetime? Whether it’s the Colosseum, the Great Wall, or the Pyramids, these edifices are narratives set in stone, telling tales of societies, cultures, and the human spirit. Their survival is a testament to our persistent pursuit of permanence in a transient world. In the dynamic field of construction and architecture, we're continually pushing the boundaries of sustainability and innovation. Companies like ours, leveraging cutting-edge materials like OUMINGLANG SUPER DPS, are committed to ensuring our structures not only stand the test of time but do so with minimal impact on our planet. But beyond the materials and techniques lies a deeper question—what does the longevity of our architecture say about us as a civilization? What legacy are we building for future generations? Let’s dive into this discussion and perhaps find inspiration in our collective desire to leave a meaningful and lasting impression on the Earth's chronicle. Drop your thoughts! #Architecture #Sustainability #Heritage #Innovation #OUMINGLANGSUPERDPS #BuildingLegacy #EcoFriendlyConstruction

How did the built environment come into being? Along with the emergence of civilisation, I realised that architecture has always been a part of our history; not plain shelter, not protection against the natural forces but the art of architecture. Our nomadic lifestyle was replicated in the Inuit's makeshift dwellings, crafted from natural elements, and the Mongolian yurts' tent-like structures. Architecture encouraged permanent settlements in Çatalhöyük, Turkey where interconnected mud brick housing promoted community living. With religion, architecture was indelibly shaped to accommodate spiritual evolution and the Hagia Sophia, initially built as a cathedral transformed into a mosque and later converted to a museum symbolises the religious influence on architecture. The Industrial Revolution reshaped rapid construction techniques for mass production. The Crystal Palace in London featured a cast iron and plate glass structure utilising modular design. The invention of the elevator made way for vertical expansion with The Equitable Life Building in New York City being the spatial experiment. In the present-day scenario, how can we carry this history forward not just as case studies but to inform modern-day architecture? #historyofarchitecture #lessonsfromhistory #worldarchitecture #monumentalarchitecture #architecture #design #ArchitectureAndDesign

Architect Louis Sullivan famously stated in 1896 that "form ever follows function," a principle that has shaped architectural design for over a century. However, I believe it is increasingly evident that this concept is more aptly applied by the users of architects' creations rather than by the architects themselves. As Stewart Brand pointed out, Sullivan's words have often misled architects to believe they can predict the functions of buildings, when in reality it is the users who continuously determine, shape, and reshape the building and its form based on their needs and usage. In "The Alexandrian," I utilize my artwork and urban research to examine the current societal dynamics of Alexandria and how it influence the evolution of the city's urban and Built Environment. Through observations and artistic visual language, I seek to comprehend how individuals are constantly reshaping buildings to meet their needs. My goal is to develop a deeper understanding of the real Alexandria, free from any romanticized notions of its past. The monthly posters depict various urban life scenes, allowing for readers to interpret the illustrations in their own way. The use of only drawings leaves space for personal reflection, and I keep words reserved for academic research purposes.
