Practical Training Funds for Next Generation and Women in Agriculture 🚜 Scottish Government have released funding of over £500,000 to help women and young people develop new agricultural skills and further their career in the farming sector. The funds will be delivered by Lantra Scotland. • Applicants can apply for up to £500 towards the cost of training. It can be more or less than that – but they only cover more in exceptional circumstances. • There will be an emphasis on emissions reduction and biodiversity practices, but also other important areas such as health and safety and equipment training. Delivering and accessing formal VET training can be a challenge in many industry areas or regions. Registered training organisations (RTOs) need to consider the costs and risks of delivering each qualification they offer. Similarly, learners and employers experience barriers to engaging in formal training. Consultation is taking place throughout this project to understand the factors complicating demand, delivery and uptake of VET training. Eleven industry areas have been identified for qualitative research: ➡️ arboriculture ➡️ protected and production horticulture ➡️ irrigation ➡️ landscaping ➡️ nursery operations ➡️ permaculture ➡️ pest management ➡️ aquaculture ➡️ fishing operations ➡️ seafood post-harvest operations ➡️ fisheries compliance. You have the opportunity to participate and share insights into the factors impacting your industry. Skills Insight reviewing barriers to training in key industries Skills Insight is consulting with stakeholders as part of a project to better understand the barriers registered training organisations (RTOs) face in delivering particular qualifications, and the issues learners and employers face in accessing formal training. Eleven industry areas have been identified for qualitative research. They include arboriculture, aquaculture, fisheries compliance, fishing operations, protected and production horticulture, irrigation, landscaping, nursery operations, permaculture, pest management, and seafood post-harvest operations. There is the opportunity to participate via online and on-site interviews and focus groups. Input will be used to produce a research paper outlining the barriers to meeting training demand and strategies to address them. Many Consultants in Nepal offer training to poor farmers on market value chains without ever visiting the mandis. I suggest that these consultants visit the mandis to understand how market operates and prices are set. If they genuinely care about their work, they will be deeply concerned by the disparity between their academic knowledge and the real market functioning methods. This first-hand experience will reveal how little they know about the actual functioning of the market. However, if they are insincere, they may ignore this truth and continue misleading farmers, motivated by the financial incentives from donor agencies. There are local rules which you cannot read in books evem in libraries of Harvard or Oxford ..

Bivalve Mollusc Sanitation: e-learning from FAO FAO and the United Kingdom Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas), in its role as FAO Centre for Bivalve Sanitation, have developed a course series to support the implementation of bivalve mollusc sanitation systems. The focus of the series is the primary production of bivalve molluscs for consumption as live or raw bivalves and, in particular, how to manage microbiological hazards at this stage.
