There is something about hometown recognition that hits differently. Had so much fun talking about my book and my work in gender equity on the #ExceptoinalWomen program Magic 106.7 Wmjx-Fm Audacy, Inc. with Sue Tabb and Kendra Petrone. https://lnkd.in/eUia-xJd One of the biggest themes of my book, Disrupters: Success Strategies From Women Who Break the Mold, is that women do not need to Lean In anymore than they already are. It's such an awful message and rally cry. Instead, women who are driven to make an impact have the best opportunities when they invest their energy into disrupting status quos that are inefficient (take too much time, cost too much money), ineffective (do not achieve the desired outcomes), and inequitable (does not positively serve the largest number of people in a way that makes sense for them). We have to stop the mindset and expectation of "prove your value". It's a waste of time and energy. Instead, we should simply live and work our value. My appearance on this program is a great example of the power men have in creating gender equity in the workplace and in society. Big thank you to Dan Ward for the nomination for your continued advocacy and championship of women. 💪✨ Celebrating Women ✨💪 As women, we frequently face a barrage of criticism, from both men and, sadly, ourselves. We can be the first to body shame, over-analyze, and find faults in each other, often forgetting that we also bear the weight of societal expectations. We have all done this at some point with/without realizing it. This needs to change. Ladies, let’s do better. How can we expect men to celebrate our achievements if we struggle to recognize and celebrate each other’s success? We juggle careers, support our families, and maintain emotional stability—all while often neglecting our own needs for the sake of others. If we want our accomplishments to be recognized and celebrated by men, we must first learn to uplift and support each other. It’s time to stop tearing each other down and start building each other up. Let's celebrate each other’s successes, big or small. Let’s be the first to say, "You did an amazing job," or "You look fantastic!" These small gestures can create a ripple effect, leading to a more supportive and inclusive environment. We, as women, need to do better. We need to be the example of the change we wish to see. Together, let’s rewrite the narrative. Let’s uplift and empower each other, celebrating every step forward. A Little Tribute to All Women Out There In 2024, it’s shocking that some still resist successful women. But let’s be clear—nothing can stop the progress now. For every woman who rises, another barrier breaks down. Women are leading, innovating, and rewriting the rules daily. Yet, there are still those who cast doubt. They question her ambition, competence, and ability to lead. But success doesn’t need permission—it thrives on persistence. A woman’s place is wherever she chooses to be. From boardrooms to classrooms, women are making history. Strength, intelligence, and ambition know no gender boundaries. We must uplift, empower, and celebrate women’s journeys. Each woman’s success is a victory for us all. Let’s tear down outdated mindsets and stand together. Women belong in every space they proudly claim.
