Meet Toby Rowden, a dedicated gas field specialist working in EDL’s landfill gas to renewable energy business. Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Toby has worked with EDL since 2017. In 2023, he was offered an opportunity to take up a role in EDL’s Australian east-coast landfill gas generation operations, so he and his wife relocated. Since arriving in Sydney, he’s embraced barbecuing (outdoors), Australia’s passion for several different ‘footy’ codes and travelling to some of our most notable natural landmarks. His phone is full of sunset pics taken over the last six months, including this particular favourite captured in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales. Toby said while the process of renewable energy generation from landfill gas is virtually the same worldwide, he has developed “a new appreciation for the impacts of different climates on production, and a deeper understanding of EDL’s global contributions to sustainable energy supply”. EDL is proud to have dedicated professionals like Toby, whose expertise and passion drive our mission to be the leading global producer of sustainable distributed energy. #renewableenergy #landfillgas #bioenergy

Atlantic Green, a subsidiary of Nofar Energy and Interland, is building the 60MWh facility at Waterswallows, expected to be running from May. An ambitious facility to store #renewableenergy is being constructed near the market town of #Buxton in #Derbyshire. When fully functioning later this year, the Buxton Battery Energy Storage System (#BESS) the amount of energy needed to power 90,000 homes for two hours. As we’ve reported before, #renewablesources of energy such as #wind and #solar can depend a bit on the weather, meaning that the times energy can be most plentifully generated don’t always match peak demand. The BESS solves this problem by simply storing energy until it’s needed. That means more homes and businesses can take advantage of cheaper, cleaner energy, with less reliance on #fossilfuels and the #nationalgrid. London-based law firm Howard Kennedy, which advised on matters such as lease negotiations, grid connection documentation and planning requirements, estimated overall costs of constructing the BESS at some £20.6m and that once running it will then generate earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (#EBITDA) of some £3.6m per year. That would mean the project paid for itself in less than six years, and that #greenenergy makes good business sense as well as being good for the environment. Atlantic Green has similar initiatives in the pipeline, including the more than 600MWh ‘Project Cellarhead’ in #Staffordshire expected to be in action in the second quarter of 2026, and the more than 270MWh ‘Project T’ coming in 2028. Sam Currie, Project Manager at Atlantic Green, told #BBCNews that, ‘The #batteryenergystorage market in the #UK and globally is growing. We’ve also got sites cropping up where you have got a core location. So you will have #windfarms or #solarfarms for example and there will be a battery farm put alongside them to store the green energy that is produced.’ Wind turbines at Carsington Pastures, #Derbyshire, photo by the Roaming Picture Taker

Do you understand that there are only two ways to produce energy scientifically? There is no other way. One of them, as we all know, comes from classical thermodynamic science (entropy) and the 200-year-old Law of Physics describes how heat is transferred, or conducted, through impure metal for example, you have to buy fuel that is burned to generate mechanical motion which is converted into energy, which the impure metal creates resistance, heating, energy dissipation, and losses of more than 40% of the energy $$$$ the best way to know this is mathematically the EROI is the return on investment in energy. How many governments face economic challenges due to a lack of understanding of superconductivity? The future of energy production is already here! Forget about power outages and expensive energy! Empere® leads the way with cutting-edge quantum bulk power plant technology, we use condensed superconducting bulk material which has over 80 times more energy as the internal power source, with 0 resistance and no loss, in ultra-cold vacuum engine to revolutionize power production, eliminating the problems of EROI, scientifically validated 100% efficient energy production, economic, and safe regardless of weather conditions no cuts 24/7 all year round, non-carbon-free fuel. The way we produce electricity is changing and we want to make sure local businesses, communities and families know the lifestyle, economic and environmental benefits renewable energy is bringing Queenslanders. Until August, our Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) readiness assessment team is hosting community drop-in sessions, pop-ups and community workshops across Central Queensland. Local communities can take part in our readiness assessments and share their views. We've already been to Gladstone, Calliope, Moranbah, Dululu and Rockhampton, Taroom, Theodore, Banana, Biloela, and Mt Larcom—with plenty more to come. So far, the feedback has been positive with many stakeholders interested to learn more about what renewable energy development could mean for their local area. REZs will connect multiple clean energy generators, like wind and solar projects, in a coordinated way. This will lower costs and deliver better outcomes for regional communities and industries. They will also help to attract investment to the right areas in Central Queensland. The region is at the heart of the state's renewable energy aspirations, with its strong energy, agriculture, manufacturing and critical minerals industries, and emerging hydrogen sector, coupled with publicly owned ports. Credit article to reNEWS - Renewable Energy News Statera Energy has secured planning consent from East Devon District Council in the UK for a 290MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project. The BESS will be connected directly to Exeter substation in 2027, when it will also start contributions by Statera to a local fuel poverty fund. East Devon accepted Statera’s battery was a low carbon energy project needed to store renewable energy from the grid when renewable generation exceeds demand and also complies with renewable and low carbon energy policy in the East Devon Local Plan. Officers had advised, “It is clear that the scheme would provide benefits, in the form of reducing dependency upon fossil fuels and contributing to energy security in the UK". The Exeter facility is scheduled to become Statera’s sixth operational battery. Statera’s first schemes at Pelham and Creyke Beck have been successfully storing electricity to instantaneously power around 100,000 homes each since 2017. As well as its own assets Statera has built six other BESS projects, is currently constructing its flagship 300MW battery at Tilbury Substation in Essex, and is responsible for maintaining and overseeing over a gigawatt of storage assets in the UK. East Devon District Council accepted the advice of the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service that the well-designed proposals, which include extensive fire detection and suppression systems, raised no fire risk concerns. #EnergyStorage #England #Europe #STATERA #UK #QEDGroup #QEDEnergy #PrimeDispute

The City of Arvin, California, and Veolia North America have started construction on a groundbreaking #solarenergyproject to power the city’s wastewater treatment plant. This innovative installation will eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from the plant's power generation and meet all its energy needs. Since energy accounts for up to 30% of water treatment costs, this project offers significant economic and environmental benefits. Veolia has operated Arvin’s wastewater treatment plant for over a decade. Last year, discussions began on using renewable energy to enhance cost efficiency and reliability as part of Veolia’s GreenUp strategy. The project, generating one megawatt of electricity (enough to power 205 homes), is funded through low-interest municipal financing and the Federal Inflation Reduction Act. Arvin has been a sustainability leader, with numerous energy and emission reduction initiatives. This solar project is a testament to their ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. #solarpower #cleanenergy #sustainability #renewableenergy #wastewatertreatment #greentechnology #solarpowered #california
