Looking forward to Royal Shrovetide 2024 with our invited Ford & Stanley guests and hosts next week! For those unfamiliar with the event, it takes place in Ashbourne, Derbyshire annually every Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. Four facts for those unfamiliar with Shrovetide: 1) Ancient roots: Shrovetide has stood the test of time, tracing its origins to medieval times. 2) Unconventional format: Forget about goalposts and boundaries – in Ashbourne, the entire town transforms into a playground! With minimal rules, the game sprawls across streets, fields, and even the river. 3) Team spirit: the town divides into two teams – the Up'ards and the Down'ards (depending on what side of the River Henmore you were born!) with the goals 3 miles apart. 4) Unconventional football: the ball is larger than a normal football, made from leather and filled with cork (to help it float!). See you there!

Developing modern, vibrant, flexible Rotary to be part of our communities in the 21st Century
Starting a Rotary Satellite Club offers the additional benefits of expanding project possibilities, visibility, and the impact of Rotary in your community. As an example of how this model of Rotary club can work, Robert Lovick recently took a look at the Great Yarmouth Haven Rotary Club, a club that has maintained a presence in the local community through two satellite groups, for the latest edition of Rotary Digital. UPDATE: Here's a link to the city's survey, please fill it in to let them know what you want in the new park: https://lnkd.in/gUCi8dga ORIGINAL POST: Tonight's the night! I look forward to seeing all of you lovely OC Bikers, Skaters, BMXers, Scooters, Rollers and Bladers tonight at the Irvine Town Hall at **6pm at Portola Spring Community Park!*** I'll be wearing a bright yellow Digit Bikes T-shirt if you want to find me. I'm told that the city is quite commited to developing a multi-use facility as a starter kit for all-wheeled fun, and hopefully later developing more specialist features such as a BMX track, advanced skate features, etc... They want our feedback on how to include everyone, and to see that there's community support for it! Local bike leaders - I think your voices would be valuable. There might be opportunities for your organizations and our local community to benefit from this at little/no cost (The city is NOT looking for funding). I've proposed that it would be great to have a bike share from the train station with lock/charge facilities around the park. Perhaps local commuters could use this too - imagine a bike shop with leased secure storage at the train station, where they could do maintenance and sales. Maybe an ebike demo facility? The city liked these ideas. Perhaps you could help orchestrate something like this, or inject better ideas at the meeting... See y'all there.
UPDATE: Here's a link to the city's survey, please fill it in to let them know what you want in the new park: https://lnkd.in/gUCi8dga ORIGINAL POST: OC and Irvine cyclists, come out on February 29th at 6pm @ Portola Springs Community Park to let City of Irvine know how badly we want this. It looks like it might finally be happening, please come help push this down the home straight!
