Are we ignoring the obvious? After attending a recent restaurant industry conference, I’m struck by the silence from leaders on the health impact of the food they sell. These are very bright & successful individuals speaking from the stage about innovation, growth, and brand loyalty—but ignoring the fact that much of what’s being offered is fried, processed, and nutritionally empty “food”. I am in no way an idealist but I do believe that food is medicine and that what we put into our body is either life giving or life taking. This is why I’m proud to be part of gusto! fresh bowls & wraps where we offer food that nourishes both body and spirit. Our why is to to champion awakenings with food, kindness, & gratitude so more people can pursue their dreams with gusto! Shouldn’t we, as an industry, be more accountable for what we’re feeding people?

Cultural Adaptation Tip: FOOD CONNECTS! All people eat. No matter what the culture, we are guaranteed that where ever we go people consume food. Culture dictates how, where and why we eat the food but none the less, we all eat. Sometimes we struggle to connect or bridge a gap with someone from another culture. The most natural way I've found to do this is to talk about food. When we do this, we make a personal connection AND maybe even learn more about the culture we are trying to understand. Next time you are in a conversation funk with someone, try asking these questions: What kind of vegetables do you enjoy? Do you prefer to eat bread or rice? What is your favorite meal? How do you feel about spicy food? Asking about food preferences and experiences is a guaranteed way to not only get to know someone but also a great way to bridge culture and make a connection! #culture #tip #food

When you go to a shop to buy your meals or when you cook, especially dishes like rice and curry or biriyani or lamprais (like how Savindri Perera did at MasterChef!! 🥳🇱🇰 - using the same picture she has posted on Instagram in here), you ensure that the spices you use are authentic and possess the rich flavors they are meant to have. The taste of your meal builds from scratch, so you can feel it in your soul. Similarly, just as we appreciate authentic spices in our food, authenticity in people is equally important. When people show their true feelings and engage genuinely with their teams and themselves, the impact is much greater and more positive. In my opinion, we're all human, and we thrive when everyone is accepted for who they truly are. In a world where everything has a touch of "fakeness", BE REAL!
