***Blogpost: International cooperation in data protection: not an option, but vital to our tasks ***
This week, our Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiorowski and Secretary General Leonardo Cervera-Navas, as well as EDPS colleagues had the pleasure to welcome colleagues from the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership Region to share and discuss the challenges and opportunities we face in the practical application of data protection laws.
In his blogpost, the Secretary General writes “What is most interesting during these meetings is the possibility to listen and learn from our partners from the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership Region: the opportunities, but also some of the hurdles they encounter in matters of compliance and enforcement of data protection. In turn, we also shared our approaches to certain problems or situations as a data protection authority. This truly encapsulates the meaning of cooperation; the act of working together to reach a common goal. Such exchanges are a precondition for putting cooperation in action successfully.”
