What makes our International Employer Insight different from government mandated #graduateoutcomes data? Whilst all government mandated #highered outcomes data is domestically geared, quite rightly the governments that fund public #highereducation, want to understand the return on this investment in the context of employment, productivity & economic growth, Asia Careers Group SDN BHD data is international in its focus. We are primarily concerned with international students transitioning to successful #careers back in their home countries, following their overseas #degree. This is important to reverse the #braindrain from the #globalsouth & in building #softpower in what is an increasingly geopolitically unstable world. #poststudywork rights have for too long been hailed as essential for the sustained growth of international #studentrecruitment. This is why it is so important to understand international student’s employability & career paths & trajectories in major international student source markets - #china #india #ASEAN etc. Hit “Subscribe to Newsletter” at the top of this post to receive the first issue, comparing the employability of #Australian & #UK #graduates in their return home. The problem with #internationalemployability is that it doesn’t belong anywhere within #highereducation institutions, a black sheep standing apart from the flock. Therefore it does not receive the attention &/or resources it both needs & considering #internationalstudent fees & contribution to the #highereducation sector, it frankly deserves! - international office are interested in #employment as they get asked about it all the time by students & parents, but quite frankly the pressure for numbers is such they would prefer to pay commission to an agent for an actual “bum on a seat!” - #careersservice tasked & measured against domestic #employability, therefore bringing international students into the mix adds a whole new layer of complexity - #alumni, interested but not ‘really’ our bag, we want to know our #internationalalumni are successful & hopefully doing well financially, as this makes for great casestudies & fundraising - #PVC external / international / #studentexperience etc. international #employability should be this individual’s problem, but is it? They’re under more pressure to hit #studentrecruitment targets, make cost savings & generally firefight, than to focus on international #graduateoutcomes. Asia Careers Group SDN BHD
