Another Else event goes by - and this time we discussed the idea of fast-follow innovation within regulated environments, using the cruise liner and the speedboat analogy 🛳️ v🚤.....
We had a cracking panel (🙏🏻 thanks again team), who shared some great perspectives and ideas on what it takes... While Else presented our take, with some rapid incremental innovations, strategic foresight, and design fiction in the mix.
For me, in old money, the boat analogy kind of stacks up – why indeed take the risk and be the speedboat, when a cruise liner can turn up later and dominate?
But, times are a changin' with autonomous agents, and emergent legislation on data-portability amongst other things, flipping the script.
In the near-future customers will be able to do it for themselves, so it isn't really about simply keeping an eye on the agile upstarts and then swallowing them whole. Besides... a cruise liner can't get to the shore, and that's where the party's at... 🙃. Analogy breakdown.
Thanks again to everyone that came, we really enjoyed the discussion and meeting new folks... Our next event will be on Sustainability ♻️🌿🤖.
Tons of practical and thought provoking insights from our panel last week.
Thanks again to Rhea Marshall, Tiffany Walker, Tony Lawlor, Mike Chatterton (and Harpreet Bushell for chairing).
We will be sharing more in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
