Speaker | Best Selling Author --> Joy Connoisseur! On a mission to connect with 1 million people & Have Good Ripple Effect!!
I am always looking for ways to encourage young people to get out and make impact and JOY! Because, let’s be honest, we are only borrowing the world from future generations. This Thursday I’ll be hosting a Networking opportunity (think mini-Rising Tides Connection Conference) for the high school students at a local high school! The goal is to create a structured opportunity for students to practice their networking skills with community members and gain valuable career insight. It has been such a great experience gathering community members to be part of three separate speed networking sessions. Curious how it works? Here are some details: · 150 or so students come to class during their assigned times (three different class blocks) · The students are paired with community members to network and after 7-10 minutes, they rotate around the room to meet additional community members. It’s pretty amazing how a lifelong connection can form so quickly! · Community members are given conversation topics to cover (i.e. share your career journey or what do you do each day) and a few questions to ask the students (i.e. what do you plan to do after high school?). The goal is for the sessions to be fun and interactive! BIG Thanks to the Ankeny Orbis at Ankeny Schools for making time for connection, You Have Good Ripple Effect! Interested in joining us at a student networking event in the future? DM me and I will add you to the list! #YouHappenToTheWorldNotTheOtherWayAround #havegoodrippleeffect #RisingTides #ConnectionGrowthLearning

🌟 Reflecting on the Equate Student Conference: Supportive Networks Panel 🌟 I had the privilege of being a panelist alongside Ceri Shaw and Louise Juul Mousten during the Supportive Networks Panel session at the Know Your Worth: Equate Scotland's Student Conference. It was an inspiring discussion where we talked about networks and their impact. 🔗 Why Networks Matter: The right kind of networks can be transformative for you and your career. Depending on your preference, there are options to suit your networking style. Here’s how: Online Networking Sessions: If you prefer the comfort of your own space, online networking sessions are a great way to connect. You can participate from anywhere, engage in meaningful conversations, and build valuable relationships. In-Person Sessions: For those who prefer face-to-face interactions, attending conferences, workshops, and events provide great opportunities. Creating Your Own Network: Sometimes, existing networks may not align with your goals. In such cases, consider forming your own network. Gather with like-minded individuals, share ideas, and support each other’s growth. #equatescotland #knowyourworth #equatestudentconference

When I was given this opportunity, the basic idealogy that I had in mind was that I'll be sharing my experience and guiding the first year students about how things are going to be for them at Fraser Valley India. But that was not all, when I sat with the other ambassadors, namely Mehr Anand and Taj Sharma , I realized that there was so much to learn from their experiences, for me as well. Even while I was working with them, I couldn't see all the problems they faced and how they were able to cope with them. But in the end, all of us agreed with each other to some extent and the takeaways from this session for any first year student would be as follows: 1. Don't let your friends hold you back. Don't be the one holding your friends back. 2. Don't be shy because the people sitting around you might not even remember what you said or did a few years later. So go for that interview, apply for that internship, be ready to host that event and what not. 3. Find the habits that suit you. For me, I like to study on the weekends and work on weekdays. I like to make "To-Do Lists" for work (co-curricular activities) and assignments, so I don't lag behind. I also like to update the list regularly. That's my way of managing my time. For you, it could be completely different and that is okay. 4. Don't try to mug up things. Always go after conceptual clarity. 5. In today's world, people with both the skills to offer namely, the technical skillset and business acumen, are much more in demand. If you are into Computer Science, does not necessarily mean you only need to work for people who have a business idea. NO. In fact, you can bring your own ideas to reality. You can RUN your own firm too! All in all, it was an amazing session. Some of the first year students seem to be quite enthusiastic. Hope to see them as panelists in the next year!
We organized an exceptional networking event for our incoming Fall 2023 cohort - "Meet And Mingle." During this event, our accomplished second-year students assumed panel roles and skillfully moderated the entire gathering. This provided our new students with a valuable opportunity to gain insights from their more experienced peers, learn from their journeys, and receive answers to any questions or doubts they may have had. The event proved to be incredibly enlightening for our students, leaving them enthusiastic and well-prepared for the exciting adventures that lie ahead in their academic journey! "The research is clear: virtual meetings substantially improve access to conferences and attract a much more diverse range of participants than in-person meetings." An interesting read about the rebound from all-virtual conferences, and how new forms of convening/meeting/sharing information are evolving. People miss seeing each other and interacting in-person, but that's mostly an age thing. Younger people and those with more barriers to travel, accessibility and funding, may need virtual access in order to participate at all. Are you participating differently in conferences and/or PD options? If you're an organizer or hosting PD/meetings/conferences, what are you doing differently now compared to pre-pandemic?

To me, networking can be exemplified as the heart of our academic way, where blood and cells meet, gather around in the heart, and try to create another heartbeat in our field. Chaharsoogh is defined as four paths in the old bazaars where people used to face each other. Today, it is a gathering for the purpose of networking. Since Chaharsoogh focuses on networking and education, I made an effort to attend and finally got the opportunity to benefit from it. Although first visits aren't always the best, meeting professional teachers and getting to know fresh ideas about education give you an astonishing scientific point of view. Everyone had a notebook which was divided into a few parts: one for taking notes during sessions, another for writing down information about the people we made contact with, and finally a section to write our thoughts and experiences about what we heard, read, and felt during the event. In conclusion, I recommend that my friends surround themselves with people who are working in the same field, whose values are similar to theirs, who introduce concepts that make them feel amazed and want to discover and explore more, and who can add another beat to the heart of their field. #event #experience #education #educationalevent
