Creating a good hygienic environment in a boarding school involves implementing various practices and protocols to ensure the well-being of students. Here are some key steps to achieve this: 1. Regular Cleaning and Sanitization: Establish a cleaning schedule for dormitories, common areas, and facilities, including bathrooms and dining halls. Regularly sanitize frequently-touched surfaces and objects. 2. Personal Hygiene Education: Educate students about the importance of personal hygiene, including handwashing, dental care, and overall cleanliness. Provide access to handwashing stations with soap and water. 3. Healthy Food Handling: Ensure that the school's kitchen staff follows proper food safety and handling protocols to prevent foodborne illnesses. 4. Proper Waste Management: Set up appropriate waste disposal systems to maintain cleanliness and prevent the spread of diseases. 5. Medical Facilities: Have a well-equipped infirmary or health center with trained staff to attend to students' medical needs promptly. 6. Vaccination and Health Records: Keep up-to-date records of students' vaccinations and health status to prevent outbreaks of preventable diseases. 7. Pest Control: Implement pest control measures to prevent infestations and maintain a clean environment. 8. Adequate Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation in dormitories and classrooms to promote air circulation and reduce the risk of respiratory illnesses. 9. Hygienic Toiletries: Provide students with access to clean and hygienic toiletries, including soap, tissues, and toilet paper. 10. Regular Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any hygiene-related issues promptly. 11. Encourage Personal Responsibility: Teach students to take responsibility for their personal space and belongings, encouraging cleanliness and organization. 12. Parental Involvement: Involve parents in reinforcing the importance of hygiene practices and working together to maintain a healthy environment. By implementing these measures, a boarding school can create a safe and hygienic environment that fosters the well-being and overall health of its students.

Award winning team offering a range of nutrition training and support to early years settings and families
⭐Tea recommendations for early years settings⭐ 🍽In today’s post we’re sharing recommendations around planning TEA to meet the EBSB guidelines (swipe to see some of our top tips). ✅Each tea should include a main course and dessert each day ✅Provide a starchy food as part of tea each day and be sure to provide at least three different types each week, such as pitta bread, potato, couscous ✅Provide vegetables and/or fruit as part of tea each and be sure to provide a variety across the week, such as pepper sticks, cucumber fingers, mashed banana ✅Provide protein foods as part of tea each day, such as baked bean, chicken, tuna ✅It’s best practice to provide three portions of milk and dairy foods each day, and one of these can be as part of tea, such as grated cheese, yoghurt ✅Provide only fresh tap water and plain milk for children to drink. Top Tips: 📝Be clear on what’s included in each dish. For example, instead of simply stating ‘vegetable curry’ on your menu, you could say ‘lentil curry with butternut squash, aubergine, peas and tomatoes, with brown rice’ ⭐Mealtimes are a great time to involve children in the preparing, cooking or serving of the food (where appropriate). For example, they can help to chop the vegetables, set the table and serve elements of the meal themselves ⭐Talk to families about the timing of Tea so that they can plan their child’s routine at home in the evening. We've lots of support to help you meet these guidelines. ➡️This includes our online Menu Planning training, which explores topics including how to: develop and review your menus to meet the EBSB guidelines, cater for special dietary requirements, support children at mealtimes and create an encouraging dining environment ➡️Menu Review- have your menu reviewed by our team of expert registered nutritionists, who will provide recommendations and suggestions to help you update your menu to bring it in-line with the guidelines ➡️Blog- Menu Planning FAQ’s and Common Pitfalls ➡️Example menus- to provide tea ideas and menu inspiration. Ensuring clean and sanitized tableware at schools and universities doesn't mean you have to rely on single use plastics. Set up your dish room and cafeteria with a Bi-Line Accumulator to bring trays, cups, and flatware directly to the dish room to be washed and sanitizedAccumulators by Bi-Line are the world's only maintenance-free accumulators, which means high productivity that you can depend on from day to day There is still time to get a quote and help reduce trash and ensure clean, sanitized, germ-free tableware. #university #foodservice #cafeterias #cgareps #cgarepsfoodserviceequipment #hospitals #bilineconveyors #tn #ga #schoolnutrition #foodservices #biline #foodserviceindustry #fl #conveyorsystems #homes #biline. #foodserviceequipment #al #nursing #cgarepsequipment

WHY WE NEED A GOOD SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM There is considerable controversy regarding the fate of the Labour governments school lunch program which promised to deliver “healthy” school lunches but the “healthy “part did not happen because there were no mandatory school lunch standards or monitoring of those standards. It is naïve to believe that implementation of an unregulated school lunch program will solve the problem of our appalling child obesity levels which are second only to the USA and give our kids good Kai. Research conducted in the USA, which has one of the world’s largest School lunch programs, showed children residing in states with stringent nutritional standards for school meals had lower rates of obesity than those living in states with more lax regulations. Marion Nestle, PhD, of New York University said, “There is an association between more stringent meal standards and more favorable weight status, especially amongst low-income students.” If we are going to have a school lunch program, we need to learn from what has worked in Japan, USA and the UK and implement stringent Governmental school nutrition standards and monitor compliance as a matter of urgent priority. Right now, we have no idea what school lunches are being served, their nutritional values and food safety regulations compliance. What we have is an unregulated extemporaneous group of school lunch providers throwing together prepackaged school lunches which most kids are not liking. I remember going to school in the UK 65 years ago and queuing for my school lunch with a plate in hand. A smiling Dickensian rolly polly woman with a big ladle would put onto my plate a serving of the fresh warm dishes I pointed to laid out neatly and hygienically in the trays on offer. Meat and three verges were the typical order of the day plus apples and pears to take away for breaks. This is the rubbish that we are serving up to our kids in NZ. So yes, we do need a good Government run and administered school lunch program but like so many of Aderns promises the current school lunch program is not being kind to our kids. Sir Ray
