Are you celebrating or suffering? Faculty are celebrating their students in commencement, award ceremonies, and honors inductions. Likewise, there is *some* suffering to endure with final grading, attending end-of-year committee meetings, and writing evaluations. As we scramble to finish one academic year, there are preparations for the new year in August. I would even venture to say that emotions are running higher in May than at almost any other time. With this in mind, buy lunch for the student behind you in the cafeteria line, offer an encouraging word to a colleague, participate in an end-of-the-semester pot-luck with your faculty, and sit next to your buddy while participating in Commencement. If you are suffering today, take a deep breath, name one item to celebrate from the past week to ground yourself in gratitude, and then eat that elephant, one bite at a time. You are ALMOST there – finish strong! You got this! Wise readers - are you celebrating or suffering today? And what did you do about it in response?
