How odd is the fact that we feel pissed off if even for a micro second our OTT streaming gets impacted but feel so weird when clients chase us relentlessly when enterprise applications we are accountable for does not work the desired way? When someone says "client first" that's what they question , infact !! We all are a client in some cases and in few cases we are the provider clients look up to in a symbiotic ecosystem , yet our approaches or rather reactivity to same situation varies differently depending on which side of the table we are sitting in. In most cases , the reasons are mainly two - Inability to understand the criticality of the business at first hand down the pyramid , secondly lack of right technical infrastructure knowledge to support a business . 10 years back Netflix came up with Chaos engineering , with Chaos Monkey being an important part of their architecture wherein production features are targeted randomly and explicitly to ensure IT teams has built a resilient system to handle such failure situations . Its a moral question to ask ourselves what are we doing to make our systems scalable and resilient ???? What's each of our strategy towards chaos engineering? #chaos_engineering #resilientSystems

Founder of the #1 most followed tech platform across all social media YT, TikTok, IG (1M+) | Leading voice in tech trends, AI, DevRel, and providing explanations of complex tech concepts.
Netflix uses Chaos Engineering 👇 specifically through their tool known as Chaos Monkey, to enhance the resilience and reliability of their systems, ensuring a seamless streaming experience for users worldwide. Chaos Engineering involves injecting controlled chaos into systems to identify and address potential weaknesses. Chaos Monkey plays a central role in this process by randomly terminating instances in Netflix’s production environment. This simulation of real-world failures allows engineers to observe how systems respond and to improve fault tolerance. By embracing the unpredictability of failures, Netflix engineers are able to strengthen their architecture, ensuring that it can handle disruptions gracefully and maintain uninterrupted service for users. This approach to system design not only improves reliability but also prepares the infrastructure to withstand and quickly recover from unforeseen challenges.

- "We model ourselves on being a professional sports team, not a family." this is a quote from Netflix's culture description. From my experience "culture" statements can differ from actual culture in the company. What do you think of company cultures. Should it have family vibes? more professional or mix of both? You can check out Netflix culture document here: https://lnkd.in/dzS3VAwg #techcareergrowth #softwareengineering #companyculture #netflix #coding ---------------------------- 👍 Like | ♻️ Repost if you loved it. ➕ Follow me for daily content, @archil-sharashenidze

🚀 A Book That Changes Perspectives on Company Culture – "No Rules Rules" by Reed Hastings and Erin Meyer 🚀 As a programmer, I always value efficiency and freedom in my work, which is why "No Rules Rules" was such an eye-opener for me. The book outlines Netflix’s approach to innovation and team organization, offering insights that can benefit not only managers but also anyone working in modern tech companies. Here are a few takeaways that resonated with me: 1. Freedom and Responsibility – Just like in programming, it’s essential to have the creative space to innovate while being fully responsible for the results. 2. Openness and Feedback – Direct communication and honest feedback help you grow faster and avoid mistakes. It’s something I plan to incorporate into my work routine. 3. Minimum Control – Netflix has no rigid policies for vacations or spending, and everything is built on trust. This kind of environment gives people more opportunities to showcase their abilities. This book made me think about how I can boost my productivity by working in a more open and autonomous setting. I highly recommend it to every programmer and IT specialist looking for personal and professional growth! 💻💡 #Programming #CompanyCulture #Innovation #NoRulesRules #Netflix #ITLeadership #Productivity

Just watched this video about a developer's journey leaving Netflix: https://lnkd.in/ecMGh4-6 . It highlights two lessons in tech or leadership roles: 1. Architects should code: If you are an architect and are not coding, you might want to bias towards listening to your team - your designs might look good on paper, but are horrible to implement and maintain. In a broader sense, if your work is the foundation of another team's work, ask if what you deliver makes their work easier, harder or near impossible. 2. Open communication with your manager: Not expressing your perspective about work or outlining your challenges can lead to unnecessary frustrations. Having conversations with your manager can foster better alignment and lead to a more fulfilling work environment... or make you realise that you have drastically different and irreconcilable perspectives. This realisation will make your next steps clearer. Your thoughts? #techleadership #developerjourney #communicationiskey #engineering #careergrowth #transparency

The best way to avoid failure is to fail constantly 🧗🏻♂️ 💡 Traditionally, testing and QA were performed at the end of the development cycle (right side), but the shift-left approach moves these activities to the earlier stages (left side). This helps identify and address issues sooner, leading to better software quality, faster delivery times, and reduced costs. 💰 Here's how this approach helped Netflix win back their customer's trust 🏆🤝 #engineering #qualityassuarance #softwaretesting #buildmomentum #shiftleftphilosophy #netflix
