"Diving into the delightful chaos of toddlerhood. 🧸🚀 "Did you know? Toddlers engage in pretend play, an essential activity for their cognitive and social development. Through imaginative play, they explore and make sense of the world around them, enhancing their creativity, problem-solving abilities, and social skills. This type of play allows them to experiment with different roles, scenarios, and emotions, building a foundation for empathy and communication. Nonverbal communication is as important as verbal communication!
What is the most beautiful sight in the world? To your baby, the answer is YOU. This video is such a lovely illustration. Out for a stroll with her father, this little one is laser focused on one - and only one - thing: Dad’s face. Your baby learns so much from your face - discerning your mood, gaining clues about social situations, and unlocking the keys to speech and language, just to name a few. What’s more, eye contact is one of your baby’s most important forms of pre-verbal communication. What do you think this little one is “telling” her father in this video (shared to IG by merveilaydagurbuz)? #earlychildhood #earlyyears #parenting

How to motivate our kids to learn and become better?😊 These are the three ways I do: 1. Different from comparing kids, this is about inspiring and demonstrating to others. By embracing and loving our kids while also providing them with positive role models, we can motivate kids.🌻 2. Engage in self-competition. If they have excelled in the past, tell them so, stating "You can do better even now." If they have not performed well in the past, tell them "You have the potential to do better.”😊 3. Offer them a 'WHY' - offer them a cause, an emotionally relatable reason, an incentive to study and succeed. My personal favourite is to share the parent's life story and the reason for educating the child.🤝🏻 In the comments make sure to add which one of these did you like?☺️ #parenting #parentingcoach #parentingtips #parentingadvice #childdevelopment #Understandingkids #parenthood

Fiercely Compassionate Physician and Public Health Leader Communicating Medical Evidence to Build Shared Decision-Making. Skilled Pediatrician & Child Health Speaker. Clinical Expertise in Community Autism & ADHD Care.
Every day I speak with young parents about the power of offering “parent-approved choices” early and often to children. Creating these conversations, teaching the choosing paradigm, and honoring your child’s agency is a great way to build and improve all types of self-regulation skills (feeding, sleep, impulse control/behavior). This dad shows it can be fun too. Offer your child some choices today and every day. #parenting
A+ Dad! Earlier this week I wrote about the importance of “agency” - or allowing children to make choices for themselves. Today, along comes this fantastic example. What I love about this dad is that he’s laying the groundwork for this very thing - even before his daughter is expressing strong preferences of her own. He’s selected two potential outfits and talks our hero through each option - conveying the message that she is capable of making her own decisions, and that he will honor them. But that’s not all. Listen to the way he describes each. To all the extra vocabulary he exposes her to. And to the warm and happy tone he uses as she looks on adoringly. The whole episode might have taken 30 seconds longer than if he had simply picked an outfit and dressed her… but look at all that was gained by his attentive and interactive approach. Simply fantastic. How might you follow this dad’s lead today? This wonderful video was shared to IG by nikkiverabrown. #earlychildhood #earlyyears #parenting
