As an autonomous body, IBA enjoys the liberty to waste resources as it feels pleased. Do you know that in clear violation of regulatory requirements, they depend on fifty percent of visiting faculty. Now one interesting fact is that IBA students prefer visiting faculty over their permanent faculty. Only two reasons are plausible, either permanent faculty is poor, or visiting faculty are perceived as grade givers (ask IBA to share the average grade point of permanent vs visiting to test this assertion). If that's not the case, you have poor and unqualified permanent faculty. Bottom line is at least at IBA, I can't see any faculty members worth lecturing about leadership. Leadership, Structure And Discipline Sustains Continuous Improvement Thank you Luke Liria, another insightful video. If I can add or rather break it down on why things rise and fall with leadership. A leader must have authority and 'power' when leading. Power is the ability to influence others and to get your work done through other people. That power is bestowed upon the leader by the perception of their subordinates. Subordinates deemed or perceived power as having: 1. Formal Authority (position in the hierarchical structure of the organisation) 2. Relevant Qualification(s) 3. Relevant Experiences (pertaining to the position and application of knowledge specified in the qualifications) No.1 minus either of the later two above, the leader is perceived as less powerful/influential. Expanding on #3 above in terms of experience, the leader must have the following set of three core skills: 1. Technical Skills (process knowledge and qualification relevant to the position). 2. Interpersonal Skills (ability to relate well to other people) 3. Conceptual/Planning Skills (ability to see the big picture and plan/align departmental functions to meet the vision and mission goals of the organisations and their stakeholders).
