Here are 5 key traits we're using to revitalise high streets and town centres for a sustainable future.
🏬 Our town centres are in urgent need of revitalisation. As they have shifted, and changed, it feels as though we are going full circle with many high streets currently finding themselves in a state of decline. Town centres can no longer rely on a retail-centric approach to survive, but that doesn’t mean they need a complete reinvention. Working with Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council, we are learning from the past to revitalise Stretford Mall, reimagining the town centre as the buzzing heart of a lively community. A place for people. What does that future high street look like? Here are five key traits. ⬇ Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e7zgKPZd #towncentre #highstreet #architecture #urbandesign #mixeduse #planning #community #manchester #stretfordmall

Sensitive Places ++ [improving communities] Cities can greatly benefit from revisiting the design elements of traditional towns, such as narrow cobblestone streets, historic architecture, and significant civic buildings, to craft memorable public spaces today. These features foster a sense of place and community, encouraging residents and visitors alike to engage with their surroundings. Additionally, integrating landscaping into urban environments creates inviting atmospheres for leisurely strolls, promoting mental well-being and a deeper connection to the city. In contrast to the often sterile and uninspired public spaces found in many modern communities, embracing these timeless design principles can lead to vibrant, lively urban areas that enhance quality of life, boost local economies, and cultivate a strong sense of belonging.

🚧 Transforming homes through the ages: LIVE Projects by Cosy Homes Oxfordshire! 🚧 Right now, Cosy Homes Oxfordshire is in the midst of some truly exciting live projects, bringing energy efficiency and modern comforts to properties spanning centuries of architectural history. From a Grade II listed 18th-century pub to 1990s family homes, we’re tackling the unique challenges that each period brings! Here’s what’s happening on-site right now: 🍺 18th Century (Grade II Listed Pub) – Carefully upgrading a historic pub while preserving its character and charm, ensuring we meet the strict requirements of a listed building. 🏘️ Victorian – Seamlessly integrating energy-efficient solutions into ornate, historically significant homes. 🏠 1930s – Modernising practical designs to enhance energy performance and comfort. 🏢 1960s – Rethinking bold, modernist spaces for a greener future. 🏡 1990s – Elevating relatively recent builds to the highest sustainability standards. Each of these projects is happening right now, and our team is expertly navigating the complexities of these diverse properties. From working with listed building regulations on the historic pub to balancing heritage and innovation across all eras, we’re ensuring that every upgrade respects the past while embracing the future. The level of skill and attention to detail required is immense, and we couldn’t be prouder of the dedication our team brings to each site. HOW IS LOUIS SULLIVAN REPUTED TO BE THE FATHER OF MODERNISM? It's a fascinating thought - that Louis Sulllivan and his ornate style led to the minimalist movement that modernism represents (extending all the way to the AON building, seen poking into the picture here). __________ Torque Real Estate Marketing TORQUE is a real estate marketing agency bringing insight and awareness to the emergence of human experience, properties and the community. www.torquelaunch.com #chicagorealestate #office #commercialrealestate #architecture #realestate #realestateindustry #marketingagency #realestatemarketing #marketingagency

Two cities, two unique architectural worlds. Amsterdam’s narrow, tilted canal houses contrast beautifully with San Francisco’s Victorian homes and sleek modern towers. Both are rich in history, but each tells its story in its own distinctive way. Amsterdam fun fact: Many of Amsterdam's buildings are incredibly narrow due to an old tax law that charged by building width. To maximize space, they were designed tall and narrow. Both cities shine with iconic waterfront views, offering a perfect mix of old and new. Having traveled to many places, these two cities top the list for architectural beauty. You can't spell 'street appeal' without 'tree'. Check out this before & after! 🌳 Through thoughtful re-design, this quaint town now boasts a pedestrian-friendly village square that blends urban functionality with small-town charm. The keys to success: • Inviting gathering areas with street furniture • Thriving trees (supported by our ArborSystem) • Flexible event space The architect chose GreenBlue Urban’s ArborSystem to ensure these trees would flourish. It’s not just about getting trees in the ground - it's about providing the support systems they need to thrive in challenging environments. Curious about the details behind this transformation?
