As I commented when the partnership was first posted—the bar is impossibly high to innovate and make it uniquely Barbie-play and not simply another licensed version of the Monopoly game, as strong as it is. As a former Barbie Consumer Products guardian, we really wanted our licensing and development partners to think of Barbie as the license to break out of the standard framework of licensing by simply coloring it up Pink and exchanging icons, but to do truly differentiated, innovative brand-specific ideas layered onto classic products. #thebarbiemovie is the most brilliant example of this in the #barbie lexicon today.
