It is really overwhelming to read all the nice and kind words from colleagues, friends and business relations. Being known as the cool/cold guy, it really touches me to read all the comments. It makes me realize, once more, that sharing knowledge is the key to success. When I started in this industry back in 1993, there was a very limited number of growers using added value to sell their plants. The huge warehouse stock sales and the ‘buy-it-if-you-like-it’ business, with selling from the trunk of your car on a tour through Europe is converted in advising. Advising not only for colours and trends up to 18 months ahead but also for the best quality/price and sustainable collections, in this world were everything is moving so fast. When I was asked, back in the time, to build up the partnerships with our vendors in China, I knew that this was what I loved to do, travelling and exploring opportunities and later on, new countries for the diversified sourcing we do now. With travelling to and sharing my knowledge with our fast growing offices in Indonesia, India, Mexico, Turkey and Vietnam and handling the European sourcing myself, a big part of my workday is filled. Recently sharing my sourcing knowledge with customers from all over the world within the garden business, in our new showroom in Aalsmeer, is the next level of teamwork for our organisation. I am proud and excited to share our history and the paths we walked in the past. Being part of one the most dynamic, innovative, transparent and reliable companies in our industry is a privilege I have. These 4 words are a clear example who I am and are Dymaks values.
