We made replacement parts for a customer’s small diamond turning lathe that is no longer supported. The design looks like a prototype. Here would be my advice on their next design iteration: 1. If you want a rotating assembly to have minimal slop then use preloaded roller or ball bearings instead of a plain bearing. 2. Try to use external grooves instead of internal grooves because they are easier to measure and achieve better surface finishes.
