Intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) may be covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The EEOC has resolved many cases on behalf of individuals with IDD. The rights of individuals with IDD is a focus in our Strategic Enforcement Plan. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, developmental disabilities are a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas. Typically, developmental disabilities begin during a child’s developmental period, may impact day-to-day functioning, and usually last throughout a lifetime. Intellectual disabilities are a type of developmental disability. Recent estimates in the U.S. show that about 1 in 6, or about 17%, of children aged 3 to17 have one or more developmental disabilities. The EEOC released a new webpage for IDD which has resources, guidance, and tips for people with IDD and employers.

Hello Lisa, I am very sorry to hear about your son, your situation is (1) example of the necessary changes still needed. This is why agencies like EEOC continue to fail the workforce. Before engaging in this conversation I’d like to ask for some clarity. I’m not sure if your upset with me or EEOC. I have my own agenda this is a public platform. What do you mean by “You would rather blame these individuals who would love to be working. People like you who do not understand or do not even want to get to know differently-abled individuals would not be saying things that are not true.” “What about their equal and constitutional rights to be employed, earn a paycheck, and live independently? Have you ever shown up to an interview and an employer took one look at you and skipped over you because they do not even want to give you an interview just because of your appearance?” Also are you asking me these questions or EEOC? If you are asking me understand I am a biracial woman living in America who lost her job because she put in a complaint for racial discrimination. Let me be clear I am a strong advocate for DEIA and I myself fall into the “disabled” veteran category. Good day to you 🌸

Your agency engages in Prohibited Personnel Practices. Your agency #violated public law 115-73. Your agency #violated my consiutional rights for equal protection of the law. I am no longer employed because you hire #poor #leadership who like to break the rules. Your agency is participating in #criminal #activity and should be under a current #investigation. I have made Congress aware of your inability to do your jobs.

False advertisement you have some serious issues within your workforce and how people with disabilities are treated. I’m proof of that.

We need awareness brought to the fact that DD does NOT equal ID! Our state has this so confused that those without ID are completely ghosted by programs meant to serve them.
