The video says it all. My journey as a corp member ended last week Thursday the 25th of July, 2024. It wasn't just a year. It's a period of growth. I am grateful for the lessons derived and the connections built. Some of the things I learnt as a corp member are: 1) Your certificate is the starting point. It would open doors for you. However, 2) Your skills will keep you going. 3) Learning should never end. We are never perfect. Nonetheless, we need to pick each lesson as we go. Always strive to be a better version of yourself. 4) Broadcasting is not so far from marketing. Even though I majored in marketing, I found it very easy to settle down in the broadcasting world. 5) Build and keep valuable relationships. You never know who will help you in the future. 6) Very importantly, keep your faith in God. 7) The importance of moral values can't be overemphasized. 8) Don't be a bench warmer. You or others can't know how far you can go until you start.

Your People are Important - Let's celebrate them! Our BH Biz Star awards focus on the most of important part of any business – your people. Our judges will recognise the achievements of employees from the top to the bottom of an organisation, evaluating their contribution to the workplace and their community. Whether that is an individual at the sharp end of the business, helping to drive your business growth, or that truly invaluable star that holds everything together and makes it all work, day in day out, rain or shine. Let's shine a light on those unsung heroes as well. Nominate them for our Bright Star award (PS: they don't have to know...) We also celebrate your newer staff with the broad category that is Star Apprentice. He/she/they do not have to be an apprentice per se, they could be a trainee or a newcomer to your business who similarly has that special shine to them. Apprentices come in many shapes and sizes, they'll be those fresh out of school, there will be those returning to the workforce. Some might be on a short year-long administrative apprenticeship. As you'll read about below, some will be taking several years to complete theirs, leading in some cases to a Degree, a Masters or a highly regarded professional accreditation. In addition, I know of several apprentices working in member businesses under an Accessible Apprenticeship scheme. We want to hear about all the stars you have. If a nominee has issues with mobility, we'll see to it they can be involved, and if they are up for it, there for the big awards night. There is only one condition: You must be a member! You can also nominate others as long as they work in a member business. Multiple entries in a single category You can enter up to three different categories, but in each category you have the opportunity to make multiple entries. So if you have several ‘Bright Stars’ or ‘Star Apprentices’, tell us why they’re exceptional. Read about what we are looking for in each of the award descriptions on our website. Our judges are looking for evidenced submissions so make it apparent what has been achieved. We look forward to hearing from you. Once you’re done, send the completed forms, together with any supporting evidence, testimonials and the like to Richard Cox; richard.cox@bhbpa.co.uk Download an application form today: https://lnkd.in/e2XzpThh

🎤 Why Joining the Speaker Awards is Like Hitting the Career Jackpot – But Way More Fun! 🚀 Picture this: you, standing in the spotlight, not because you accidentally walked into a mime performance, but because you’ve just become a part of something HUGE. Yes, we’re talking about the Speaker Awards, and let me tell you, the launch party on the 15th of March at midday UK time is going to be the bash of the century (no clowns involved, we promise). But why, oh why, should you join the waiting list? Let’s dive into the reasons with a sprinkle of fun and a dash of funny: 1. Catapult Your Brand & Collect High-Fives: Imagine if every time you were nominated for an award, a kitten did a happy dance. That’s the kind of joy we’re aiming for. Awards are your secret sauce, the kind that makes bookers and clients flock to you like seagulls to a chip. Get ready to be the person everyone wants at their party (virtual or not). 2. A Magical Mirror on Your Journey: Entering these awards is like taking a selfie with one of those fancy filters, but for your career. It lets you see just how fabulous you really are, pushing you to strut your stuff and maybe even tweak your performance (duck face not required). 3. A Stamp of Approval from the Cool Kids: Winning or getting nominated is like being handed the ultimate cool kid badge in the playground of professionals. It’s a nod from the industry that says, “You’re awesome, and yes, you can sit with us.” Use it as your secret weapon to open doors, windows, and maybe even some those tricky jars. 4. Supercharge Your Mojo: Nothing says “I’ve still got it” like recognition from your peers. It’s the motivational equivalent of finding an extra fry at the bottom of the bag – a delightful surprise that keeps you wanting more. Let it boost your spirit and propel you to do even more amazing things (cape not included). 5. Unlock the Treasure Chest of Opportunities: This isn’t just about adding a shiny trophy to your shelf; it’s about unlocking a treasure chest of opportunities so big, even pirates would be jealous. Picture yourself attracting the best gigs, sailing the high seas of success, and maybe even raising your fees (sorry, no actual treasure maps provided). Ready to Be the Talk of the Town (in a Good Way)? If you’ve ever left an audience laughing, crying, or just plain inspired, it’s time to step up. The Speaker Awards are your backstage pass to the VIP section of your career, minus the velvet ropes but full of possibilities. Why wait for an engraved invitation? (Spoiler: it’s not coming.) 👉 Join the Speaker Awards Waiting List Now 👈 https://lnkd.in/eswx-93M Mark your calendars for the 15th of March and get ready to party like it’s 2099 – because why not? This is more than just an award; it’s your chance to sparkle, shine, and maybe even do a little victory dance. Let’s make some noise together! Yours in fun, fame, and a little bit of folly, ME and The Speaker Awards Team

How did you discover your passion? Is the career path you’re in the one you’ve always wanted? It is strange how I grew my passion for marketing. As a child, I have always answered “I want to be a vet” to the most asked question from the older family members, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. I think my love on the animals developed to my dream of being a vet. When I got a bit older, my dream career changed to a professional swimmer and then a singer in my teen years. Given the conditions in my home country, none of them sounded practical to my parents. One thing led to another and I got into the best public university for learning foreign languages. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in English Language with Distinction and offered a place for studying a Master’s Degree. However, I decided to start working instead of further full time education. With the guidance of my senior from university, I applied for a job as a Customer Engagement Officer and secured a job before my official graduation. It was my first full time job and taught me a lot about communication, leadership and customer service. At the same time, my close friend from university was working in a marketing agency and I would hear a lot about her day-to-day tasks. It was exciting for me to hear her talk about her work and I decided to try working in marketing. It was then when I started working for an education services provider start-up company as a Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator in addition to my full time job. Being a start-up, the team was pretty small yet there were so many things to learn from the founders as well as my team leader. I got a chance to wear many hats and be involved in many aspects of marketing like managing the social media page, hosting webinars, writing contents for posts and scripts for video contents and even shooting them myself and featuring in them. My experiences inspired me to further my education, leading to a Professional Diploma in Marketing and Brand Management awarded by SQA. At that point, I could confidentially tell myself ”This is what I want to do every day!” With a strong desire to expand my marketing knowledge, I took a risk: I quit my full-time job and invested my savings into further studies. I moved to the other side of the world alone in seek of quality education. Today, I am proud to have graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with an MSc in Marketing, fully equipped with the knowledge I need. I am excited to unlock a new chapter of my life and land a job in what I am passionate about. #Passion #Marketing #BrandManagement #CareerJourney #ProfessionalGrowth #MarketingStrategy #DigitalMarketing #UK #Edinburgh #OpenToWork #JobSearch
