Remembering and honoring our founder and forever mentor, Mr. Effy Hematian, on what would be his 80th Birthday today.
We will always cherish Mr. Effy for his kind heart, beautiful impact on the world, and the way he led by example.
I fondly remember his remarkable legacy, including the enduring partnership with MSC Cruises. His vision and leadership not only shaped our path but also fostered significant collaborations
You can tell the man not only by his amazing achievements but also by the quality of his children. Mr. Effy did exceptionally well in both. Most of all, he worked hard to be just in his decisions. A great man indeed.
WHAT’S YOUR 4 MINUTE MILE?
=====================
On the historic 70th anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister’s legendary feat of being the first human to run under four minutes in the mile, I share the most important performance enhancing “secret” he used to achieve greatness.
Do you have a hurdle holding you back?
Is there a barrier you want to overcome?
Do you have your own four minute mile?
Take and apply the lesson in this video and use it to inspire your next record breaking performance!
Many of us are supposedly in the 'top 1%', and I guess we could be called 'elites' -- born this way, or ambitiously self-made -- therefore as a global class we must be willing to be the most self-critical in the first instance, if any discussions arise about stemming social inequality. Many insecure people are actually eager to uphold a hierarchical society; e.g., anyone seeking status via 'costly signalling'/ heroic consumerism are doing just this (whether they are conscious of this, or not). But the paradox is, it's likely to be only the elites that will be able to engineer change. I believe it will be the people who have both been working people AND elite in their own lifetimes -- one and the same -- who will have the most both-ways empathy and governing intelligence, here.

Watch this!!! He articulated everything 100% on point.
I love that Pelosi was present and had to hear all this while sitting literally about 10 feet away from the podium 😂

In a world that often values constant productivity and hustle, taking a break can feel like a radical act. Yet, this past year, I chose to do just that. I took a step back to focus on what truly matters to me: serving on the board of a small NGO, engaging in meaningful work, practicing yoga, and taking the time to grieve, rest, and recover.
This break has allowed me to follow my joy and recharge, but it has also raised an important question: Will taking this time off be a hindrance when I’m ready to re-enter the workforce? More importantly, do I want to work for an employer who doesn’t value the necessity of taking a break when needed?
Thank you 💥 Amy Kean 💥 for sharing Gabor Maté’s wisdom where he discusses the importance of taking time to rest and play. It resonated deeply with me and reinforced my belief that prioritizing our well-being is not just beneficial but essential.
As I reflect on my journey and look towards the future, I am reminded of the importance of aligning with organizations that value the well-being of their employees. I believe that taking breaks, when needed, should be seen as an investment in one’s long-term productivity and creativity, rather than a hindrance.
So, I invite you to join the conversation: How can we shift the narrative to recognize the importance of rest and play in our professional lives? How can we create a work culture that values and supports taking breaks for our overall well-being?

Wow! Explains A LOT!
Stopped me in my tracks.
Thanks Holly Morris & Alex Partridge for sheding light on something thats been niggling me for years!
For as long as I can remember I've questioned how long things last (degrees, course, etc). ⏳️
Or once the dopamine rush of a new creative idea has worn off, how long will it be before I hit the crash? 💥
What happens if this idea takes off, I go full throttle, create a whirlwind and then lose the drive & let people down? 😵💫
When I was barely conscious of this, I would seek out people who could enable me to get the idea across the line, or who could deliver on a idea (& therefore less flakey than me).
Ive come to realise theres a couple of issues with this;
1) my dreams & goals are my dreams & goals. Yes, leverage other people's skills to realise your dreams BUT its a fine line between blending skills and expecting others to do it for you. And, I suspect I used the excuse to seek out 'help' as a deliberate attempt to avoid the uncomfortableness of having to do it myself. Subconsciously sabotaging the idea to stay 'safe'.
2) The idea that I can't follow through or that I have an untrainable skill gap is misguided self awareness. Someone, somewhere, at some point in time, may have said something which I chose to internalise as 'I cant'.
I looked for evidence to back this up by replaying unhelpful scenarios & tagged those memories with the label of failure, none finisher, needs help etc etc
It's a fine line between knowing your abilities so you can find complimenting skills and letting those lacking skills shame you....
As part of my mindfulness practice I remind myself everyday of my gifts of creativity and my thirst for inquiry. I'm a creator and my medium for delivery is self expression.
Managing ADHD shame & over thinking is a life long practice. My brain feels like a sandstorm of ideas. I just can't follow up on all of them.
But, whats the rush....??
Sure, i risk some ideas falling by the wayside but, my purpose is to keep creating and keep expressing.
And, what was meant to be will follow with perfect timing. ♾️😍

Here are a few takeaways from Cabrini:
1. Begin the mission and the means will come
2. We can serve our weaknesses or our purpose, not both
3. There will be a time where you have to face your fears, and lead. Whether the leader is there or not, you must continue the mission
4. We don’t get to choose how we come into the world, but through God he gives us the freedom to choose what we do with it
5. We are bold, or we die
6. If you want to get sh*t done, always go to the decision maker. Find the who to get the how.
7. When you operate like your life is on the line, you can change the world in 2 years. URGENCY AND INTENSITY.
When my grandma Vicki was struck down and murdered by a 14 year old high school dropout, my world detonated. The very laws of physics came into question. Up was down. Down was up. The center of gravity no longer existed. I was faced with two existential questions:
1. Is it possible after an incident of unimaginable depravity to forgive someone who doesn’t express any remorse?
2. Will it be possible to experience joy again, knowing that time doesn’t actually heal all wounds and you will face certain tragedies (violence, suicide, death of a child, etc) that never leave you?
I have lived my life pursuing in thoughts and deeds answers to these burning questions. Every ounce of labor I expend honoring Vicki’s incredible legacy brings a tenfold measure of healing.
Part of what I’ve learned is expressed by this physician talking about not working so hard to justify our existence. Rather, it’s about living an examined life with playfulness, and joy in the company of friends, family and loved ones— empathetic and kind to all, no matter what they’ve done.
We cannot seek harm for those who harm us or we will never know joy again. We won’t be unburdened by retribution. The obverse is true. We must practice kindness especially to those who don’t deserve it.
We will live unburdened and joyful when we seek no harm under any circumstance, and offer love to all those who cross our pass.

As you go about your careers which is constantly busy and you create a retirement plan, how about a Financial Plan which incorporates a fulfilling life before and throughout retirement so you don’t have a regret like this. Very touching video.
