EFP has joined the US Plastics Pact! This alliance brings businesses, organizations, agencies, and research institutions together to collectively work towards a shared vision of a circular economy for plastics. 🌟 By joining this alliance, EFP hopes to work hand-in-hand with other like-minded industries towards a #greener future for plastics in the United States. The coordinated steps towards a greener future will be recognized through initiatives that include actions to advance #packaging recyclability, increase materials recycling, support an increased shift to reuse business models, and more. ♻️ We are excited to join and #collaborate with the U.S. Plastics Pact alliance to build a more #sustainable plastics #recycling system not only for us but for all manufacturers in the United States! #EFPLife

It's already been over a month since PRSE 2024! To keep the conversations going here are our key takeaways from some PRSE topics. 🔄 Circularity of Plastics: 60 million tons of plastic are produced annually, and only 7.7 million tons make it back into new Products. 🇳🇱 Legislative Proposals: An ambitious proposal from the Dutch government aims to replace virgin polymers with circular ones. The phased approach targets 25-30% circular polymers by 2030, driving significant CO2 reduction and promoting sustainability. 📈 Market Dynamics: How Supply chain issues and economic factors affect both virgin and recycled plastic prices were discussed. Despite current challenges, the long-term outlook remains promising due to increasing demand for high-quality recyclates driven by mandatory content requirements. 🚀 Future of Recycling: Investment in new technologies, better sorting, and advanced recycling methods are essential. Standardization of output quality and increased capacity are critical for meeting future demand and achieving sustainability goals. 🌍 Global Leadership: Europe is taking a leading role in plastic recycling, aiming for a global agreement on plastics by the end of the year. The discussions reinforced the need for: 🤝 collaboration, 💡 innovation, and strong policies to drive the transition to a circular plastics economy. 🌱 Did we miss anything? Share your thoughts on how to further drive change in the plastics recycling industry! Plastics Recycling Show Europe #PRSE24 #PRSE2024 #RecycledPlasticsEurope

Sustainability and circularity are essential for the future of the plastics industry. However, our data shows that only about 30% of polyolefins currently on the market are recyclable. We recently published an in-depth analysis exploring the potential role of private value chains in boosting polyolefin recycling. Here are some key takeaways from our findings: https://okt.to/8TNaI4

Circular Economy for Plastics in Europe This week, Haley Lowry Global Sustainability Director for Dow Packaging & Specialty Plastics came to Brussels to discuss business opportunities for Dow in the region, aligned to our #TransformTheWaste goal. During her visit, she met different actors of the plastics value chain, including manufacturers of packaging, brand owners and recyclers. The main topic of debate was the upcoming #Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation #PPWR and how it could provide a critical business environment to drive demand for recycled plastics among other #sustainable technologies. Once again, we corroborate that collaboration among the value chain is the right way to successfully transition to a circular economy, as a key tool for decarbonization, and we reconfirm the central role that industry has in the development of public policy. Thank you caroline ploux David Carroll Francesca Siciliano Stevens Nick Dornheim Rob Verhagen Maria Vera Duran Carolina Gregorio and Dennis Kredler for sharing your views on the opportunities and challenges of Europe in its path to a more sustainable economy! #PPWR #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #PublicPolicy #colaboration
