🤝Fostering Cross-Cultural Dialogue: Recap of the May 7 Diplomatic Meeting🤝 We want to share with you an important meeting that took place on May 7, 2024, featuring key figures such as Vice-Rector of UniFg, Prof. Francesca Cangelli; Rector’s Delegate for International Relations, Prof. Mariantonietta Fiore; Head of International Service, Dr. Giulio Esposito; and Italian Consul in Lithuania for Puglia and Basilicata, Dr. Giuseppe Saracino. Notably, representatives students from Lithuania, Gustė Čižauskaitė and Goda Simėnaitė, also joined us. This meeting allowed to increase international cultural exchanges even further, with mutual satisfaction, in the interests of both Italy and Lithuania. Discussions were fruitful and promising for collaborations aimed at fostering mutual growth. In our dialogue with Consul Giuseppe Saracino, we explored avenues for joint interactions and outlined ambitious long-term plans. Anticipation is high for the potential of future joint projects and meetings, reflecting our shared commitment to progress and collaboration. PORTUGAL AND MOROCCO UNITED IN FRIENDSHIP – JOINT ISSUE Portugal and Morocco are united by a longstanding history, stemming from a shared geography and common heritage, integrating a multiplicity of influences present in various areas such as arts, culture, language, and architecture, among others. The Treaty of Peace, Navigation and Trade, signed 250 years ago, in 1774, became the cornerstone on which the political and diplomatic relationship between the two countries was built. Since then, those political and diplomatic bilateral relations have been characterized by sustained balance and stability, mutually positive and enriching. With this stamp edition, the CTT Correios de Portugal marks the 250th anniversary of the Treaty of Peace, with philatelic prints that illustrate the immeasurable and diverse heritage of the two countries, using imagery of emblematic historical monuments that evoke the celebrated period. 📣 The Bulgarian Industrial Association/Българска стопанска камара (BIA), together with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), organizes a thematic event "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘯𝘰𝘯-𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵 - 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘉𝘶𝘭𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘢", on 𝟮𝟰 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝟬:𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟱:𝟬𝟬, 𝗮𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘂𝗺 - 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗮. 💡 The event is part of preparing an opinion on the same topic, rapporteur on which is Mariya Mincheva – Vice President of BIA and member of the EESC. 💡 One of the main priorities of BIA is Bulgaria's accession to Schengen, the Eurozone and the OECD. While lifting the air and sea border controls can be defined as a step in the right direction, the continued land border controls for Bulgaria and Romania lead to significant costs, environmental damage and missed benefits not only for the economies of both countries but also for the entire EU internal market. 💡 The EESC opinion will address the issue of lost benefits and direct losses related to the continued land border controls for Bulgaria and Romania, but also for the EU internal market, which leads to restrictions on trade and tourism, reduced competitiveness and increased costs for business, political and social costs and negative environmental impacts. Further emphasis will be placed on the need to set a specific date for the abolition of checks at internal land borders. Within the framework of the drafting of the opinion, 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱. 💡 The discussion on 24 September, in addition to the members of the working group on the preparation of the EESC opinion, will include ambassadors of the EU Member States, members of the European Parliament and the National Assembly, representatives of the Bulgarian Ministries, business stakeholders from Bulgaria and Romania, the President and Vice-Presidents of the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria and Romania and the Bulgarian Academy of the sciences. 🎯 Attendance at the event is by invitation only. SWEDISH CHAIRING N5 & NB8 IN 2024 💼 This year, Sweden will chair both the Nordic and Nordic-Baltic cooperation formats! Continued and strengthened support for Ukraine both regionally and globally, as well as a deepened security dialogue will be among Sweden’s top priorities. Here are some facts about the N5 and NB8 formats: 🇩🇰 The five Nordic countries have cooperated closely since the end of World War II. 🇫🇮 The Nordic Council was established in 1952 to facilitate parliamentary cooperation between the countries. 🇮🇸 The same year, a Nordic passport union was established. 🇳🇴 The Helsinki agreement of 1962 formalized the Nordic cooperation format. 🇸🇪 The Nordic Council of Ministers was established in 1971, as a platform for Nordic governments to cooperate. 🇪🇪 In 1992, following the regained independence of the Baltic countries, a cooperation agreement between the Nordic Council and the newly-founded Baltic Assembly was signed. 🇱🇻 In 2000, the designation NB8 for Nordic-Baltic cooperation was adopted. 🇱🇹 Since 2008, the coordination of the NB8 format has been rotated annually between the countries. I received today H.E Dragan Todorovic Serbian Ambassador to Libya at the Council of Libyan Businessmen, we discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and support for trade and economic programs. I stressed the Council’s support for cooperation between the two countries and providing all facilities in this regard. Also to increase trade exchange between 🇱🇾 🇷🇸, provide investment opportunities for Serbian companies and businessmen, and the necessity of starting consular work and issue visas from the embassy, as well as emphasizing cooperation with members of the Council, in the following areas: - Transferring Serbian experience in the field of technical support for the industrial sector, heavy machinery, and training and qualification in this field - Medical tourism and exchange of tourist delegations between the two countries, Inviting Serbian companies to work in the field of construction, roads, and bridges in Libya - The potential for investment opportunities in the two countries. - Inviting food manufacturing factories to work from within Libya as a gateway to Africa
