Classical Enterprise LAN Design All designs have disadvantages. This type of network is no different. In the below sections, we’ll address the shortcomings of this design. Issue #1 - Sub-optimal Paths Issue #2 - Oversubscription Issues #3 - Downstream Pack Flood Issues #4 - Traffic Blackholing at HSRP Active Node in the following post, I will mention the Source of this post. But until then, could you share your ideas about the design and its issues and finally optimizations and solutions that we can have for it? #Design #Cisco #LAN #EnterpriseNetworks #Enterprise #Routing #Switching #SubOptimalPaths #Oversubscription #TrafficBlackholin

1, Connection between the SW1 and SW2 would work better if its a Routed Link or a trunk link with only Vlan allowed that has OSPF Neigbor relationship. 2 , Keep Vlans different so that the Vlan dont need to be spanned across all the switches. 3, Vlan Prunining should be used on all downlinks so that path can be optimised during a link failure and HSRP standby takes over right away as the Trunk port and SVI dies on either switches. 4, Oversubscription can be overcomed by bundling ports into port channels. 5, Oversubscription can also be somewhat addressed by spreading the Vlan Roots and than respective HSRP states.
Thanks! Always learning
