NordForsk has announced that they later this year will open a call for Nordic research infrastructure hubs. They are looking to create 12-15 hubs covering all domains including e-infrastructures. Projects are expected to (in short): -strengthen Nordic cooperation on a specific research infrastructure partnership - activities to increase joint Nordic use of and cross-border access to the RI - Training programmes and access for young researchers Funding from NordForsk up to 6 million pr project and they ask the institutions to provide double!!! the amount sought from them. University of Bergen would be the ideal partner for many of these hubs as host of 5 ESFRI national hubs and many more national RIs. However, in order to succeed with building partnerships and having a good Norwegian contribution in the hubs 1. the in kind policy has to be made clear as soon as possible 2. The deadline needs to avoid overlapping with the national call for RI expected from Norges forskningsråd in November this year. Echoing the call for participants made by my colleague Prof Luca Tateo for our study: Hierarchies and Interdisciplinarity Survey We are conducting a study on hierarchies within the university setting and invite you to participate in this research. We understand hierarchies in social organisations as systems in which individuals are arranged by group status associated with positions in the command chain and a differential access to social and material resources. The hierarchical organisation of work and production, once considered the most efficient, is now subject to criticism. The objective of this study is to understand the experiences of hierarchies as lived by members of our academic community or by people who are working closely with universities, to explore how these hierarchies impact interdisciplinarity, and to identify any strategies individuals may employ to navigate or circumvent these structures. This study is funded by Circle U.
