I've received a handful of praises on my ability to make things simple to understand and put structures and processes in place at work. However, I never wanted to celebrate or jump for joy when I received such compliment about my so-called superpower. I think it's because deep down, I want to be known more for my empathy and creativity. Not for being able to put structures and processes in place. After all, processes are very boring, no? But then when I looked at all the books and digital products that I have created in my digital store, I realised that 99% of them are about structures and processes. This post isn't about look at me, I am so awesome at creating those products. But it's about oh wow, sometimes, it pays to really listen to what others are saying and accept that sometimes the most ideal version of who we want to be can be slightly different (ok, a lot different) from what people know us for. And guess what, that is ok. #acceptance #selfawareness

What’s the best thing that a tech leader can possibly do in today’s environment? If you asked me this question a while ago, my immediate answer would be empowerment. However, I have had a change of mind recently. In the midst of AI, transformation and disruption that we are facing in the tech industry, the best thing a leader can do is to identity areas that they can add value where their team isn’t able to yet and do so with passion and commitment. Yes, empowerment is still important but in this climate, there is no place for the kind of leaders who step back and let their teams take charge. Let’s face it - we are all learning new things and figuring them out most of the times.
