Physical access control is a matter of who, where, and when. PA basic access control system determines who is allowed to enter or exit, where they are allowed to exit or enter, and when they are allowed to enter or exit. Historically, this was partially accomplished through keys and locks. Electronic Access Control uses computers to solve the limitations of mechanical locks and keys. When access is granted, the door is unlocked for a predetermined time and the transaction is recorded. When access is refused, the door remains locked, and the attempted access is recorded. The system will also monitor the door and alarm if the door is forced open or held open too long after being unlocked. Access control has streamlined countless routine processes for businesses – it has modernized security and signaled a change in the way companies monitor their activities. For less money than it costs to hire a team of security guards, a business can install an access control system with double, if not triple, the features. As technology continues to develop, access control will become even more specialized and customizable to make security in the workplace effortless. In most cases access control is implemented to minimize access to privileged information, private property and to control what and individual has access to. In scope they're are 4 parts to Access control; ****Authorization: Who and What is approved. ****Identification: How can we identify the user ****Authentication: Verifying the individual(s) who are attempting to access information. ****Accountability: Making sure those who access the system are held accountable and the use of this information is traceable. Although there are 4 parts to access control, they're are only two types! Physical & Logical which I will further explain below. The two types of access control are: ****Physical - These pieces of equipment are relatively to what you can see. Card readers, gates, doors and locks, biometric readers and alarm systems. Usually the individual charged with this responsibility is the Facilities manager. ****Logical - These access control measures are computer based and oriented around the access control of via a computer and access to the information on it. Computer system managers tend to be in charge of this area. "Jw" #security #securitymanagement #riskmanagement #accesscontrol #CPTED #physicalsecurity #InformationSecurity #Risk #Business

What happens when there's a faulty contact on your door? Access control systems rely on secure and reliable connections to function correctly. When there's a faulty contact then it impacts your security and convenience. No one wants unreliable access to their workplace. Faulty contacts can lead to unpredictable behaviour, resulting in doors not unlocking or locking when they should. This can create significant disruptions and potential security risks. False alarms are a nuisance! A faulty contact can trigger false alarms, causing unnecessary panic and wasting valuable time and resources for security staff. When the door doesn't work it becomes an inconvenience.: Faulty contacts may prevent doors from closing properly, leading to the possibility of unauthorised access to restricted areas. This can interrupt operations, cause disturbance, and compromise the overall efficiency of your business. Our message is if it's broken get it fixed. Always make sure you regularly inspect and test your access control system to ensure all contacts are functioning correctly. Replace faulty contacts immediately to prevent any potential problems.
