"What does it take to go from a lab idea to a business idea?" Spoiler alert: it takes a team, dedication, and the right support system. Last week our CEO Simone Bleibach Alpiger shared NOLA's story at the Innovator Fellowship (EIT Food) webinar focused on "Growing Resilient Food Systems, Delivering Nutrition for a Healthy Life and a Healthy Planet." Simone introduced the amazing team behind NOLA and our innovative business idea aimed at transforming the food system! 🥗 We've come a long way since our lab days, and the EIT Innovator Fellowship 2023 kickstarted our personal and entrepreneurial journey. Key Takeaways from the webinar: 📝 1. Nurturing Ideas: The Fellowship provided a nurturing environment to transform our lab-based idea into a market-ready business concept. 💡 2. Skill Development: We gained invaluable skills in strategy, innovation, sustainability, business planning, communications and value creation through the program. 3. Mentorship and Resources: Our experienced mentor José Francisco Fernández Serna and access to different resources enabled us to mobilize effectively for sustainable value creation. 4. Addressing Global Challenges: The plant-based market is witnessing extensive growth, but there is a challenge in meeting the demand for high-performing plant protein ingredients. We are confident that NOLA has the potential to transform the market! We are incredibly grateful to EIT Food and the Innovator Fellowship for this transformative experience. 😊 NOLA is poised to make a significant impact, and we're excited to continue our journey towards a more resilient and sustainable food system. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress! 🚀

Free seminar alert: "How to effectively engage actors in transitions for sustainable impact?" A Symposium on Action Research in Food Systems Next October 15th, along with Flanders Business School - FBS and Sytra - UCLouvain, we are inviting you to reflect on the use of system, target and transformation knowledge in participative approach that is more and more considered as fundamental in transition. Some of our key questions : 🤓 What are your best practices in system, target and transformation knowledge use and production? What are the necessary conditions to progress, in a participative way, on those different knowledges? 👥 Which actors should be involved in such processes in terms of representation, personality, differences in worldviews, level of responsibility, etc.? Should only forerunners be involved or a larger set of stakeholders? 🤸♀️ What ambitions can be set and what processes can be used with groups of heterogenous composition? How can decisions be made? 👂 How to make sure that all voices are heard, also of those not present? 🧐 What roles can/should the researchers play in these processes in terms of convening and facilitation? 🤲 How to build trust and a sense of community? How to make sure that the community continues after the end of the project? If any of your experience or research tackles those aspects please join us! Abstracts welcomed until 15th September! (Very soon, hope to see you there) The event will take place in Antwerp in the Flanders Business School - FBS buildings. https://lnkd.in/er23QVyc

What an inspiring start to the EIT Food Next Bite 2024! The opening speech was a powerful reminder of why we’re all here – united by the shared mission to transform global food systems for healthier, net-zero, and resilient outcomes. Key takeaways: 1) Collaboration is essential – systemic change doesn’t happen overnight, but by working together and building trust, we can accelerate innovation. 2) The food system still faces big challenges – from food waste to the impact of agriculture on our planet, we have more to do. 3) EIT Food’s role – with over 600 startups supported in 2023 alone and €209 million in investment attracted, we’re seeing real impact, but we must push even further. #NextBite is all about connection – this event brings together thought leaders, and change-makers, investors, partners and innovators. Let’s use the time to think ambitiously and build relationships that will drive the change we want to see. RisingFoodStars are so excited to be part of this community and can’t wait to see what comes next. Let’s make the most of these days together as we collaborate, and accelerate, the transformation our food systems need!
