Wow! What a year.   I am delighted but disheartened to announce I have completed my industrial placement year at RSSL and Mondelēz International. A mixed feeling of emotions due to realising my time has finally come to an end but also reminiscing on all the great achievements I attained. Here are the main highlights:   👨🔬 HPLC and AAA Routine Work I first embarked on my industrial placement year with competent training in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography and Amino Acid Analysis (Ion Chromatography) which grew to improve my technical ability by carrying out routine analysis of food and pharmaceutical products. Being surrounded by talented scientists allowed me to absorb brilliant work ethics and data anylsis skills, and paired with my determination allowed me to be nominated for the Rising Star title.   🔎 Intern Challenge The topic for this year’s annual competition encompassed a sustainability initiative to find a solution to measure the carbon footprint of analytical tests. Through 6-months of work on this project, my group managed to build a calculator on Excel to quantify the carbon footprint and configure a web browser for visual representation with Python programming. This ultimately led us achieving a manager’s award for the contribution and positive impact of our solution to the company.   📖 Sustainability Ambassador Recognition in that project opened a new responsibility for me, primarily representing my department in driving sustainability initiatives for the company. Reviewing new proposed assets and processes, and relaying this information throughout regular meetings was key to ensuring alignment and improvement to company mission statements.   ⚽ Charity Football at Stamford Bridge I had the opportunity to represent RSSL in a charitable football tournament hosted at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge Football Stadium. It was an insightful moment raising money for Grocery Aid and connecting with employers around the organisation for a good cause.   ⚗ Validation Projects Fortunate to be brought onto meaningful validation analysis for the development of multiple methods internally and for respective clients. Establishing crucial factors in data sets such as precision, accuracy and solution stability and collaborating key findings with the project lead has excelled my professionalism, perseverance and industriousness in any work environment. I want to thank everybody I have met along this amazing journey, this was an experience I'll hold on to forever! #careergrowth #personaldevelopment #placementyear
