✨ What an incredible week in Lisbon! 🌟 During the first week of our business mission in Portugal, we had the honour of exploring the wonders of Lisbon while immersing ourselves in the world of innovation and entrepreneurship. We want to share a bit of this exciting journey and express our gratitude to SOFTEX, the Paulo Feitosa Foundation (FPF) and the WIT incubator for accompanying us on this inspiring path. Throughout our stay in the Portuguese capital, we had the opportunity to showcase the impact and vision of our two Amazonian startups, GETTER and Btracer. 🚀 GETTER, a true pioneer in digital transformation, is leading the industrial revolution with its arsenal of innovative technologies. From utilizing 5G to artificial intelligence, GETTER is shaping the future of the industry, driving operational efficiency, and sustainability. A Brazilian startup that proves that the future is closer than we imagine! 🌱 On the other hand, Btracer is bringing transparency and trust to the family agriculture sector, not only in Brazil but now also in Portugal. Their blockchain-based platform is revolutionizing food traceability, ensuring the authenticity and security of products from origin to the consumer's table. And, above all, it shows us that technology can be a powerful ally in promoting sustainability and social justice. Our agenda was filled with inspiring moments and strategic encounters. From LISPÓLIS to the Brazilian Embassy in Portugal, passing through Startup Lisboa and other key points of innovation, we visited and connected with public and private stakeholders from various sectors to support the landing and growth of a startup in the Portuguese market. Each stop was an opportunity to learn, collaborate, and strengthen bonds. Our commitment to sustainable development, innovation, and strategic partnerships remains stronger than ever. During Upstream Festival, the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship presented the #Top250NL, recognizing the fastest-growing companies in the Netherlands 🌟 Growing fast is one thing, but sustaining growth over a longer period can be incredibly challenging. In today’s rapidly digitalizing world, it raises the question of whether looking at FTEs is the only way to measure a firm’s growth. This year, we’re seeing a rise in companies that combine high growth with positive societal impact. For SMEs/Start-ups interested in European funding (Horizon Europe, COSME, Erasmus+, Eureka, among many other sectoral programs), I recommend the discussion with Rui Serapicos on Bitalk - Negócios à Portuguesa (in Portuguese). Below, the most relevant takeaways for developing a solid and competitive application after identifying the suitable program and call: 1️⃣ Six-Month Planning: In the first month, develop the project idea/concept and establish contacts with potential pan-European partners who can add value to the consortium. Stabilize this consortium. 2️⃣ Consortium-Level Thinking: Create a MECE (Mutually Exclusive and Collectively Exhaustive) approach to define the contributions of the consortium partners, emphasizing geographic diversity, technical/technological complementarity, and the typology of partners (such as startups, SMEs, public authorities, research centers, etc.). Ideally, involve partners with experience in submissions or turn to companies/professionals with a proven track record. 3️⃣ Continuous Iteration and Strategic Alignment: Continuously work on iterating the application to consistently improve and build a highly differentiated project. Align the project with major European strategic priorities, such as the European Green Deal (and its various sub-initiatives like 'Farm to Fork' or the 'EU's Biodiversity Strategy 2030'), the New European Innovation Agenda, the European Skills Agenda, among others. 4️⃣ Strategic Framing and Market Expansion: Apply with a project that aligns with your company's long-term strategic goals, ensuring it is not solely a funding opportunity but truly integrates into your business strategy for market expansion.
