Unveiling Your Pitch DNA: A Powerful Workshop for Female Innovators! Ever wonder what makes a truly impactful pitch? This week, I had the honour and pleasure of hosting a workshop titled "Zeig dich mit dein pitch" (Master Your Pitch) at the FFG Austrian Research Promotion Agency Programm #Innovatorinnen Sommerfest in Vienna. 🇦🇹 This program empowers women in #appliedsciences, and it was inspiring to work with such a passionate group! The core message? Finding your #PitchDNA! This isn't just a one-size-fits-all elevator pitch. It's the core message you can **expand or contract** to fit any situation – from a networking event to an op-ed. We delved into the power dynamics of pitching as women. We explored how societal norms can lead us to downplay ourselves. But together, we discovered how to: * Own our space with confidence (without being forceful!) * Elevate ourselves and each other * Craft a compelling narrative that showcases your impact The workshop culminated in a powerful exercise: Participants created their *personalized Pitch DNA*, then used it to craft new introductions. The results were incredible! A huge thank you to the amazing women who participated! Your vulnerability and shared experiences made this workshop truly special. #femalescience #pitching #innovation #womenintech #FFG #feministperspective P.S. Want to learn more about crafting a powerful pitch? Let me know in the comments!

One step forward, a big shove back! This is getting beyond disgusting for female founders (especially in the UK). It's already hard enough being a female founder what with lack of funding, lack of recognition and lack of support compared to their male counterparts. So, how can female founders get any semblance of fairness when the very orgs that are claiming to be their champions go seemingly back on their words, act without transparency and disappoint thousands of founders. Innovate UK promised 50 awards to female founders (with a supposed total value of £4M) through the Women in Innovation 2024/25 Awards. Awards that required an application process taking hours and hours of precious time and resources from the founders. IUK then got thousands of applications (obviously!) and now, with no explanation, have decided to only award 25 of the 50 awards. I mean, come on! Thank you to Emmie Faust, Hattie Willis, Emma Jarvis and more for asking why, holding them to account and bringing it to all of our attention. Thanks also to who have shared and commented on this topic. MY ask: If you a founder in my community (and I may have already reached out to those who I work with directly) AND you applied for Women In Innovation 2024, please tell your story here via the form; the community needs to know what went wrong and how. They will use this data to take to IUK and it will be anonymous. https://lnkd.in/eGMNQRqB There is also a survey here capturing information (thanks to Charlie Rosier for sharing on Emmie Faust's post): https://lnkd.in/emNCyE5G If you didn't apply, please share so those who did can have their voices heard. Please make some noise that Female founders deserve respect, honesty and accountability. I know this fight is exhausting but if we all collaborate, I am confident it will be worth it. #startup #innovateUK #femalefounders #startupcoach

Deep upset in the female founder community Innovate UK awards only 25 of the 50 awards ♻️Repost to share Update that I heard back from them on Sunday afternoon and I will share more shortly. Innovate UK is the United Kingdom's innovation agency, which provides money and support to organisations to make new products and services. And recently they launched a special campaign to support women. According to applicants, who heard back on Friday, only 25 of the 50 awards have been released. Understandably everyone is very confused and upset to hear that only half of the funding has been released. ↳ Around 1500 women applied - that's a huge number. Many of these are in Female Founders Rise as we promoted the award to our members. Applying for these grants takes SO much time (average 40 hours) and many founders also pay for support (sometimes up to £10K) So I tracked down the CEO of Innovate UK on Friday (whilst on the train back from Cornwall) got their email and have emailed them to ask for more clarity on what is going on and what they plan to do. This kind of thing undermines trust. When everyone is working together to support female founders this is not the news we want to hear. If you applied for Women In Innovation 2024 Please tell your story here via the form; we need to know what went wrong and how and we will use this data to take to IUK it will be anonymous. Please share on your feeds as well to encourage other women to sign up and give feedback. >> https://lnkd.in/eGMNQRqB Will report back when I hear more Ps I first read about this on Emma Jarvis’s post and Hattie Willis who told me what was going on. Since then been tagged in by lots of female founders who have been affected. Emma and Tara and Zandra and Becky Lodge are all good people to follow to be kept up to date on what is going on 👋 Sending love to all those who applied and didn’t get the news that they were hoping for ❤️

Head above the parapet time. We Peachie were one of the 1452 businesses that applied for this grant. We are 4 female founders with an innovative purpose lead business and experience of writing winning grant applications. 50 awards were promised and only 25 awarded. We were not successful. If we realised that only 1.75% of applications were likely to win we may not have chosen to use one of most valuable finite resources. Time. Let’s talk time, 1452 business applied assuming an average 2 days to apply (it took us more than this). That is 12 years of average employee working time for all the applications. Umm… It is incredible, in the true meaning of the word, that only 25 awards were made when 50 were proposed. Emmie Faust thank you raising this with Innovate UK on behalf of the female founders community. Let’s hope the UK Government invest in women task force gets going fast and we see more funds available to many more female led founder businesses.

💡 Insightful speech from Ms. Maria Helena de Felipe Lehtonen, President of AFAEMME -the Federation of Mediterranean Businesswomen Organizations, partner of ASCAME- at today's kick-off of the MID of MED Mediterranean Business Summit in Izmir (Turkey). AFAEMME has also been represented by Ms. Elizabeth Trallero, Former President ENMD, CEO of Congost Plastic, S.A. and Responsible for International Relations at AFAEMME, and Ms. Marta Maiques, Communications Manager at AFAEMME. 📌 These are some of the main takeaways from Mª Helena's intervention at the summit: 🔸 There is the need to talk about "women entrepreneurs" as specificity, because pre-conditions might be different depending on the person's gender. Women entrepreneurs are an important untapped source of economic growth. They create new jobs for themselves and others, and they also provide society with different solutions to management, organisations and business problems as well as to exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities. 🔸 Women are faced with specific obstacles that have to overcome in order to give them access to the same opportunities as men. There are 5 main obstacles: lack of experience -the majority of unskilled or less skilled women entrepreneurs lack the ability to prepare their companies for survival and growth-, lack of role models -by having less women entrepreneurs than men there are automatically less successful women entrepreneurs than men-, lack of capital -women's position in society has led a lack of financial assets which are a prerequisite for starting a firm-, lack of time -due to domestic responsibilities, women do not have enough time to develop their entrepreneurial skills or to develop an existing business- and lack of relevant networks -women are less present in professional networks than men-. 🔸 A natural solution for changing this situation is therefore a mixture of different policies and a change of attitude. Affordable childcare and equal treatment at workplace have to be guaranteed, in addition to educating society about the value of women's entrepreneurship. 🔸 The good news is the increasing examples of women entrepreneurs in recent years: Several women-owned enterprises are well-positioned to enhance- national prosperity and to contribute to economic growth and a better future. #midofmed #Mediterranean #unitedbytheMediterranean #MedConnect #cooperation #greeneconomy #blueeconomy #womenentrepreneurs #Mediterraneanbusinesswomen #shappingthefuture #WeAreASCAME #ASCAME2024
