MINE ENTRA 2024 PREPARATIONS UPDATE THEME AND FOCUS Preparations for the 27th non-consecutive mining, engineering and transport expo (Mine Entra) are underway. The annual expo, which is hosted and organised by the ZITF Company in conjunction with the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, will take place from 17-19 July at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo. The Mine Entra 2024 theme is "Unearthing Success: The Mining Value Chains, Innovation & Industrialisation Nexus," with the expo being specially curated to showcase the latest trends and advancements in the mining industry, both locally and internationally. The theme is meant to highlight how the mining industry, once considered mature and capital-intensive, is currently experiencing a significant transformation fuelled by innovation. The theme is also a rallying call for the sector to innovate and optimise their mining and mineral processing techniques to create strong value chains, and ultimately drive resource-based industrialisation. Conversations during Mine Entra 2024 will zero in on unlocking a future of greater mining productivity, environmental responsibility, and economic prosperity. These are expected to feed into the Minerals Development Policy, Value Addition and Beneficiation strategy, the Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) strategy at a mining sector level, and the National Development Strategy at a broader economic level. #mineentra2024

The new discovery spans a 100km stretch from the existing Mansourah Massarah gold mine, marking the first find from Ma'aden's extensive exploration program launched in 2022. This discovery supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by tapping into untapped mineral resources and establishing mining as a crucial element of the economy. Ma'aden, majority-owned by the Public Investment Fund, is a key player in Saudi Arabia's mining sector, aiming to grow tenfold by 2040 and contribute to economic diversification. The exploration around Mansourah Massarah has revealed encouraging drill results, suggesting the potential for a major world-class gold belt in Saudi Arabia. Last month a delegation of Finnish mining companies had the pleasure to visit the Taraba State of Nigeria. The delegation visited mining sites and met with local leaders and officials as well as representativies from state- and federal ministries and the EU delegation to discuss how to revive the State’s mining sector in a responsible way. Following the visit, a plan was proposed for the next steps which ranges from capacity building at university level to satellite monitoring and pilot project development of selected mining sites.
