This past weekend we at EL1 Sports were delighted to celebrate the grand opening of Alliance Performance Center NOCO in West Greeley, CO, with partners The Alliance Fastpitch and Jami Lobpries, Ph.D. During the weekend, we escaped the snow with an exclusive Coaches Clinic to explore the benefits of Alliance Performance Center, EL1 Powered By, and Alliance Fastpitch; and had a packed turf at our open house - where APC athletes competed in a Home Run Derby and won awesome prizes from The Alliance Fastpitch and other partners. We also enjoyed an exclusive DICK'S Sporting Goods offer for attendees. 🥎 🥎 🥎 has a new home in Northern Colorado.

Why the US Men’s Olympic 4X100 team was DQed again… Carl Lewis said 24 years of fumbling batons is a result of a process that will continue to produce the same result unless it’s changed. Most countries know who the likely relay participants will be and the top 6-8 practice the relay in addition to their individual workouts months before the games. The US waits until the trials are over, immediately before the games, and picks the four fastest men. This process puts the best talent in the world on the track with the least practice in the relay. Since the baton pass is a skill that requires months of practice, this is a path to failure. This year, given the illness of Noah Lyles, the team had to make a last-minute change. But they did not simply replace Noah in the anchor spot. They shuffled the entire line up. Same is true in sales. For CEO’s who say they hire the best talent and unleash them on the target market: · Talent is important. · Talent and a system will beat the best talent with no system. · Those who have put in the practice to master the system win.

As you might already know I am loyal supporter of the Brisbane Broncos since the early '90s. Like 100,000’s of others, I've witnessed the exhilarating highs of the 90s and 2000’s and just last year, the challenging lows, and every year in between, that come with being part of such a storied club. This season, despite all of OUR collective expectations, it didn’t unfold with a finals finish. However, I firmly believe that it’s in these challenging moments where true character and resilience are forged. The cartoon by Brett Lethbridge in today’s Sunday Mail while humourous, captures a moment of reflection that resonates deeply—not just for our players and coaches, but it should be for all of us who stand by this club. It’s easy to be disappointed when things don’t go our way, especially after the high of last year’s grand final. Yet, I choose to focus on the positives: the moments of joy, the lessons we've learned, the growth we've experienced, and the unwavering passion that continues to drive every member of the Broncos community. In both sports and life, success is rarely a straight line. It’s about how we adapt, learn, and come back stronger. I have no doubt that our team will use this season as an opportunity to reflect, regroup, and refocus on what it takes to climb back to the top. Let’s continue to support our team whether it be your family, friends or colleagues—not only in moments of triumph but also when our resolve is tested. After all, it’s resilience that separates the good from the great, and I firmly believe the Brisbane Broncos are destined for greatness. My context. There is a measure we tracked for Pat Gilroy and the Players the “Tackle” and went after it every year, Jim developed it into the U-21’s in parallel to Pats time with the Seniors and when JG took the Seniors it became the measure “Effort” as it encompassed a non-exhaustive range of actions by a player that was designed to make your opponent do what they don’t want to, limit their progress and where possible turn the ball over. The contingent parts included Tackle, Hook (in hurling), Block, Screen, Trap, Cut and so on. Most of the time I still refer to it as “Tackle” as that is at the Effort stats foundation. We tracked this for literally years and if the team could get over the key threshold (number one) and win the “tackle Count” (number two) the team did not lose (heck, lots of people will have issue with this and won’t believe it, I understand their view). I now, as a pass time, track the Effort in games I watch. Limerick are the team who tops the Effort count for hurling in the most recent years, yesterday their count was up on where they were, yet very narrowly (3.23%) overtaken by Cork. This was the best and second best “effort” performance of the year - add to that a 2% difference in Shot Conversion Cork 64% Limerick 62% ( from @sourceofscore ) it gives me some context of just how good Corks Performance was. For me the 5 in a row is an outcome, getting into the All-Ireland Final is an outcome and this Limerick generation don’t strike me as a group that are outcome focused and no team should be. Cork got a brilliant performance, Limerick also got a brilliant performance, more than that no one can ask for. A well deserved break for Limerick and then regroup, everyone together back at it next year and for Cork, target a better performance the next day. Photo @INPHO

⏰⚽️ TIME WAITS FOR NO-ONE ⚽️⏰ Standards matter. Perception matters. Delivery is crucial. Yesterday we finally got our William Hill Scottish Championship campaign underway against a very well run and strong Ayr United Football Club side. Whilst the final result was nowhere near what we wanted, the progressive improvement & development in the playing squad under our Management Team of John Rankin & Darian Mackinnon over these last two seasons is evident; perhaps on another day the outcome could have been different. It’s actually only on match days like yesterday however that you fully appreciate just how well run off the park that your Stadium & the entire operational infrastructure has always been year on year under the watchful eye of our Stadium Manager Jimmy Thompson & his team of people. Sadly, as with most busiesses what goes on in the engine room never seems to get the credit it’s due or the recognition that it deserves & there are many unsung heroes behind the scenes. To have maintained the pretty much flawless standards and the impeccable delivery for our customer base and visiting spectators that we’ve become accustomed to Hamilton Academical Football Club Limited (certainly in my time at the Club) takes a phenomenal amount of personal effort, investment, pride in your output & knowledge/capability. These outstanding standards and levels of operational ability aren’t something that are just simply cross transferable either. As we’ve now moved back into possibly the most demanding and challenging League in the Scottish Professional Football League, it’s not only on the field of play that our quality, capability and class as a club will be measured across this season and beyond. Time really waits for no-one, and in a world and on a stage where public opinion based on their experiences is shared openly and freely on Social Media, it’s imperative that we strive to have as good a team and standards of excellence off the park as we do on it. Next time you attend a football match and enjoy a beer in hospitality or a Pie/Bovril in the stands, take a moment to sit and think of the importance of the person like Jimmy at that venue who actually ensured that you could be there to support your Team without issue. The fact is you wouldn’t have enjoyed the best movie you’ve ever seen without a great production crew. 🙏🏽 #Gratitude #Awareness #Appreciation #Standards #Reputation #Consistency #Knowledge
