"𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁! 🚨🍭 𝗙𝗗𝗔 𝗦𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗯𝘆𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝘆𝗲 𝗡𝗼. 𝟯" The best thing about it is that the vibrant cereals and red candies we came to know will be all be gone soon out. For a healthier future of eating, the Food and Drug Administration reportedly prohibited the use of Red Dye No3 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲; it claimed it was potentially 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 and a 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲. 🎨 🚫 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻 🔍 🌟 Health Frontage: The ban was based on reports as far back as 1990 which linked Red Dye No. 3 to 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗯 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘀. It has also been suspect for 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 in children, even though it needs more human research. 📅 Essential Timelines: For food product firms, the reformulation of formulations should be fulfilled by 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 and intake medical attendance by January 2028. 📜 Check the Labels: Check on ingredients for "𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝟯," "𝗙𝗗 & 𝗖 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗡𝗼 - 𝟯," 𝗮𝗻𝗱 "𝗘𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲," particularly candies, baked goods, beverages. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 🛒 🔎 Read labels closely during the phaseout and stay informed about not using Red Dye No. 3. 👨👩👧 Parents need to be aware that there can be behavioral effects, and now is a good time to try some dye-free options for their child. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 ✨ When a food choice is just the right choice—fun and safe—then there's no need for any dye to come in between you and a healthier snack!!🍭🚫✨ #FDABan #RedDyeNo3 #FoodSafety #HealthyEating #ConsumerAwareness #FoodRegulation #PublicHealth #ArtificialAdditives #Nutrition #FoodIndustry

I don't have a sweet tooth, but still got a tooth cavity! This was the concern of one of my patients. Do you too believe that sugar is the only culprit for tooth decay? In that case, let's first understand how a dental cavity develops: ▶️ The process begins with a buildup of plaque, the sticky substance that covers teeth every day. (Tip: We can’t prevent plaque from forming, but we can keep it from causing problems by brushing our teeth daily) ▶️ The bacteria in the plaque then convert carbohydrates into acids. ❌ Any simple or refined carbohydrates (like pasta and bread) act as food for the bacteria. ❌ Carbohydrates are essentially sugars and they are also found in healthy foods such as whole grains, dairy, fruits, and even vegetables. ❌ Food and drinks that are high in acid, even sugar-free sodas, contribute to tooth decay as well. ❌ Tooth decay can be caused by any carbohydrate intake and not just sugar. ▶️ Acids in plaque will attack tooth enamel and start to cause tiny areas of decay. ▶️ These small holes or pits provide shelter for mouth bacteria to hide and reach deeper into the tooth, causing the small area of decay to become bigger cavities. The moral of the story: Any carbohydrate that sticks to tooth/acidic food + poor oral hygiene + over a period of time = dental cavity. PS: Do you have a sweet tooth or enjoy salty treats? In either case, don't forget to rinse your mouth afterwards! Do follow Dr. Pooja Siwach for daily insights on oral health! #toothcavity #sweettooth Pic credit: Roots and dentistree

Food Labels and Their Importance in Preventing Dental Caries in Children : . . . . Food labels provide essential information about the nutritional content of packaged foods, including details on sugar content, carbohydrates, and other ingredients that can impact oral health. Reading food labels helps parents make informed choices to reduce their children's intake of sugary and acidic foods, which are major contributors to dental caries (tooth decay). Excessive consumption of added sugars, commonly found in snacks, candies, and sugary drinks, promotes bacterial growth in the mouth, leading to acid production that erodes tooth enamel. By checking food labels for hidden sugars (such as sucrose, fructose, and glucose) and opting for low-sugar or sugar-free alternatives, parents can help protect their children’s teeth from decay. Encouraging the habit of reading food labels also promotes a balanced diet with essential nutrients like calcium and phosphorus, which are vital for strong teeth and overall oral health. Educating parents and caregivers about food labels empowers them to make healthier dietary choices, contributing to long-term dental well-being in children. #cavityfreekids #dentalcaries #sugarindiet #preventivedentistry #mouthfullwithcavities #cariesfreechild
