UNITY’s mission is to foster the spiritual, mental, physical, and social development of American Indian and Alaska native youth and to help build a strong, unified, and self-reliant Native American through greater youth involvement. Special shout out to Miss Indian Northwest Leilonnie Wilson (Klamath Tribe) for visiting us and taking a picture with the lamprey cutout - a culturally significant species here in the Pacific Northwest. Sinnreich's 'The Atrocity of Hunger: Starvation in the Warsaw, Lodz, and Krakow Ghettos during World War II - in which she examines the transformative effects of hunger on families, communities, and individuals. The book not only provides valuable historical insights but also carries a crucial message for now and the future, shedding light on those who are most vulnerable to the atrocity of hunger: namely those marginalized and impoverished. The detailed exploration of hunger experiences offers a parallel to contemporary situations of violence and mass starvation such as witnessed in Gaza.
