A military pathway is a route to a degree that could save time, money, and effort without compromising academic rigor. Our pathways incorporate credit that may be earned outside the classroom through examinations, experience, and/or training with requirements that must be satisfied either at ODU or another regionally accredited school. By using a military pathway, a student could start at ODU with a significant amount of credit without ever previously attending college. Learn more by visiting https://bit.ly/4czjUuV. In collaboration with Lambton College, we are thrilled to develop a strategy that supports our #militaryconnectedlearners academically and enriches their social journey in postsecondary education. 🤝 At the heart of our efforts is the fostering of an inclusive learning environment 🎓 #LambtonCollege recognizes that Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes Veterans can face unique challenges utilizing the Veterans Affairs Canada Education and Training Benefit. The decision to leave military service and pursue postsecondary education may not align with the ETB's application and approval timelines. That is why we have introduced a tuition deferral process for qualifying Veterans. This translates to students having one less barrier to accessing education. 🛡️📚 Developing a military-connected learner strategy is about fostering an inclusive learning environment that will result in positive outcomes for the student, institution, and community. 🎓 Release Point Education is a proud partner in this journey. #SupportOurTroops #VeteranSuccess #Postsecondary #Education Colleges Ontario Colleges and Institutes Canada | Collèges et instituts Canada Veterans Affairs Canada / Anciens Combattants Canada The Royal Canadian Legion

New article out now in Armed Forces & Society (OA): 'The Military Academy as a Civilizing Institution: A Historical Sociology of the Academization of Officer Education in Sweden'. https://lnkd.in/dfnkDMyv This is the first text in my new project on professional military education (PME), with a focus on basic officer education in Sweden. It explores how the military academy has served as an extension of Norbert Elias’ ’civilising process’. It argues that the recent integration of officer education in universities is only the latest stage in a 200 year long effort of mobilising academic capital for purposes of legitimating the warrior class and maintaining the standing of the military profession.

🤔💭 How relevant is a college degree compared to military experience? 🎓🛠️ In the military, we empower our members and the younger generation with immense responsibilities. Think about it – commanding multi-million dollar assets, leading teams, and ensuring the safety and success of missions, all without the need for a college degree. 💼💪 As I prepare to transition into civilian life, I'm pursuing my own bachelor's degree. But it begs the question – what value does a degree bring, and why is it important for transitioning military members? 🤔 Are there skills and experiences gained in the military that are just as valuable, if not more so, than those learned in a classroom? 🚢💡 Let's spark some conversation! I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic. Share your insights in the comments below! ⬇️ Let's explore how we can best support our transitioning military members as they embark on their next chapter. 🌟 #MilitaryExperience #CollegeDegree #TransitioningVeterans #VeteranCommunity #MilitaryTransition

As we approach the Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes posting season, military families will face many challenges. One of which is the continued desire to learn and explore opportunities for personal growth. We know that maintaining continuity of education is a challenge for serving members and families. This is why Release Point Education spearheaded two first-of-its-kind Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between learning institutions that support military-connected populations. Nationally, Portage College, Loyalist College, and Nova Scotia Community College - NSCC formally agreed to support military-connected students. Within Ontario, Fanshawe College, Georgian College, Loyalist College, Humber College and Lambton College signed an MoU to reduce barriers for military-connected learners (each institution has different programming). Both of these MoUs have the potential to significantly and positively shape the lives of our serving members, #Veterans, and Families. The outcomes of these initiatives are not just felt within our communities but also in our economy. Release Point Education has developed an empirically based framework that enables your institution to support military-connected learners. We transform the aspirational concept into meaningful action. Partnering and building relationships with our Allies is vital in today's global environment. This afternoon, Sri Lanka Navy Commodore Achala De Silva, Director of Pay and Pensions and a current ILEAD student, briefed the Navy Supply Corps School students and staff about his beautiful country to educate and inspire the up-and-coming generation of Supply Corps officers. His thorough and informative brief delved into topics such as the country's history, climate, religion, military structure, economy and government, just to name a few. Did you know that Sri Lanka is only .67 percent the size of the United States and has a population of 22.8 million, which is roughly the same as Florida? Also, did you know that Buddhism is the predominant religion, embraced by 70 percent of the population? So many interesting facts! These types of events strengthen ties and friendships, which will benefit all parties now and in the future. Thank you, Commodore De Silva, for furthering dialogue and cooperation between our two countries. #whatrightlookslike #Cooperation #learning
