In our recent "Transforming Mines" workshop, we highlighted that in order to set a vision for change, you need to show your organisation the future. That's exactly what happened recently in Sweden, where mining industry participants (including a few EMC members!) got to see the first fully battery-electric trolly truck system in action. Technologies like this eliminate both Scope 1 CO2 emissions and diesel particulate matter - an important step to building the safe and sustainable mines of the future. When exploring mine electrification, it's important for businesses to have a clear and complete picture of the value case. OEMs and technology companies are fundamental to the electrification journey. From the start, the EMC have recognised this, working hard to foster and encourage deeper relationships between miners, OEMs and technology companies. Trials are a critical component of building these relationships, as well as confidence for vehicle adoption.
