Do you live in a ‘charging desert’? 🤔 This study from researchers at Harvard and Georgia Tech shows some concerning trends when it comes to EV charging in the U.S., pointing to unreliable chargers and confusing pricing. It also spells out geographic equity as a major hurdle for EV adoption — most charging stations are located in large population centers, and there are counties with no public chargers at all. A big part of our mission at Electric Outdoors is bringing EV charging and outdoor recreation to underserved communities by unlocking land away from the grid. With the EO Canopy, there’s no need to invest in infrastructure or utility development. It’s a simple, out-of-the-box solution to a widespread problem. If you’re a landowner in a charging desert and you want to explore incentives for bringing an EO Canopy to your community, reach out at any time. We’d love to chat. https://lnkd.in/ehAfEmCk

As a PHEV owner myself, I found this analysis of barriers, solutions, and benefits related to rural electric vehicle adoption extremely interesting. The potential for major household savings combined with reduced emissions makes EVs very compelling personally, but I recognize real challenges exist hindering broader consumer adoption. Addressing upfront costs and infrastructure limitations is key in my opinion to unlock EV promises in rural places while ensuring equitable access. The case study shows rural households could save over $20,000 on average over a vehicle lifetime from lower fuel and maintenance costs. Reducing transportation expenditure burdens for lower income families would provide significant economic gains for rural communities. I’ve witnessed such savings firsthand as a PHEV driver. Barriers like high purchase prices, lack of public charging access, and consumer uncertainty about real-world functionality currently inhibit adoption. Comprehensive strategies are needed combining policy incentives, infrastructure investments, and public education programs. Offering purchase rebates seems like a solid way to help make EVs affordable for more people, thus being an equitable part of the solution. Updating building codes and electrical setups to make charging easier could also open the door for more people to opt for electric. Hands-on education that reaches all audiences will also further awareness. I support proactive moves accelerating rural EV integration, but success relies on infrastructure keeping pace with growing demand. From my PHEV experience, I’m convinced of EV consumer benefits, but realize scaling adoption requires thorough planning and funding support unlocking accessibility for rural drivers through charging availability, purchase cost decreases, and practical local demonstrations of vehicles. #greenenergy #electricvehicle #electricvehiclesarethefuture Michael Stinnett - The Unstuck Coach VEIC

Bringing access to sustainable practices to communities and individuals EVERYWHERE :-)
It's #OhioLovesTransit week! And what better way to usher that in that to hear about the fantastic brick-and-mortar (well...electronic) infrastructure improvements made possible by NOPEC! NOPEC's grants have facilitated dozens of #EV charging stations across #Ohio, and here is a great example of the latest one in the City Of Willoughby! A low carbon, sustainable, affordable future. That's what it's all about. #Willoughby #NortheastOhio #NEO Robert Fiala #electricvehicles https://lnkd.in/ezYu9bbG

Their charging cable pivots down from a hinged swing arm, and raises back up after charging. That flexibility means the system is compatible with any EV, no matter where its charging port is located. https://lnkd.in/gXhhRyb5

🚗 The future is electric, and I'm buzzing with excitement! Stuart Wilson has just highlighted a key piece in the EV puzzle: on-street charging infrastructure is VITAL. 🌟 Three takeaways from his insights: 1️⃣ Convenience is king! With ubitricity's innovative charging solution, those without driveways can also join the EV revolution. Lampposts doubling up as charging points is a no-brainer as part of the on-street mix. 2️ Accessibility is not just a 'nice-to-have'. It's crucial as we electrify our streets. Think of the potential transformation in urban areas! 3️⃣ Smart charging tech is a game-changer. It's all about efficient energy use, folks. And our wallets and the planet will thank us for it! As a dad with teenage daughters and a young son, their future drives me. And as a leader in the net zero movement, I believe tech like this propels us towards net zero 2050 - profitably and sustainably. 🌍 Is on-street EV charging the boost we need for wider adoption? ABSOLUTELY!!!! What's your preferred tech when it comes to on street charging? #ElectricVehicles #SustainableTech #NetZeroEvolution

https://lnkd.in/eqUu-U4D This is one of the biggest challenges to EV uptake. 'Range anxiety' will be familiar to EV users, especially on longer journeys. Hopefully we can repurpose existing infrastructure to help provide chargers where people need them.

Interesting trends and insights by PCMag regarding EV infrastructure and adoption. The section below caught my attention. If you have an EV related project our team at TallyCM is here to help deploy it. "Suburbanites are leading America's EV revolution, not the urban, youthful counterculture we tend to associate with social change. Early adopters are primarily wealthy, single-family homeowners who can power up on private chargers versus those in rental property garages. That's likely to continue: By 2030, 60% of EVs will be in suburbs compared to just 20% in cities and 20% in rural areas, according to the US Department of Energy (DOE)." #TallyCM #EVinfrastructure #EV #ChargingStations https://lnkd.in/g9DsPjHm

EVs can only make a difference if they're accessible to everyone. The biggest barrier in cities is where to charge. That's why Revel is building public fast charging where nobody else is. Communities historically last to benefit from new technology, transportation improvements and infrastructure, Revel is helping make sure are front of the line for the electric future. More innovation is the solution here 💡 Charging needs to be embedded into our urban environment so that there are flexible options readily available for everyone who needs them. (More slow/medium chargers in towns, more/more reliable super fast chargers on major highways). Utilising the existing resources such as lamp posts and telephone exchanges in urban areas is a great idea. The next thing that needs sorting out is providing pricing transparency and uniformity of access. State regulation is needed, remove barriers to entry for those considering swapping EV over ICE. (P.S. I have 3 years personal experience of EV driving, good and bad 😁) BBC News - Where will all the electric cars be charged? https://lnkd.in/dMhm9UgG

"It's changed my life" - says Alison, #nottinghamshire resident pictured below who can now charge at home for the first time and confidently make the move to #electric. Residents who mostly charge at home save on average £1,130 compared to solely using public chargers (Zapmap latest data). If we REALLY want to accelerate #EV adoption, we need home charging for everyone. If you live in Nottinghamshire, you can now apply for a Kerbo Charge install - link below 👇👇 #evcharging #evs #sustainability #netzero #climatecrisis
