Denmark introduced us to 'Hygge' (pronounced "hoo-ga"), a concept embodying coziness, contentment, and well-being through life's simple pleasures. This revelation was eye-opening, showcasing a profound appreciation for the present, an ethos deeply woven into the Danish culture. Switzerland, much like Denmark, is a nation known for its affluence and high quality of life. Yet, amidst our picturesque landscapes and prosperity, the pressures of daily life often overshadow our ability to cherish the moment. It's a reminder that wealth is not merely financial but is also found in moments of tranquility, joy, and togetherness. As we return to Switzerland, we bring with us the essence of Hygge—a commitment to creating warmth, fostering connections, and appreciating the simple yet profound aspects of our lives. It's about enhancing our well-being by slowing down, being present, and recognizing the beauty in the ordinary. 💡 How can we overlap Sustainability and Wellbeing? Appreciating EXPERIENCES and RELATIONSHIPS we build rather than consuming THINGS. 👁 Sustainability is defined as the ability to maintain or support the state and availability of desirable materials, conditions, or process over time, while Wellbeing is referred to a good physical and mental health, selfcare and self-love, meaningful social relationships and connections. ⏳ This post aims to be an invitation to intersect Sustainability and Wellbeing, as they two are key priority topics in global policies. We are in human history, living at the tipping point of the height of illusions, and the constant stimulation towards unnecessary consumption. ⚡Therefore, it is time for us to be creative and innovate towards meaningful and conscious economies, that celebrate spaces for unforgettable experiences and long-lasting relationships rather than ephemeral or disposable things – For instance with humans appreciating being present and consuming local products. 🌺 For that reason, I want to welcome you all to my concept, Latin Rhythms, a unique space of designed experiences, which contribute to the sustainable wellbeing and to the experience economy. 🌎🐟 Ceviche is a typical dish in the Pacific Ocean along the coastal countries of Central and South America, which combines fresh local and sea food with citrus fruits, vegetables and herbs. In Ecuador we serve it with green plantains, rice, and popcorn. And let's not forget the power of red underwear! 💃 The world's got a big buffet of New Year traditions indeed -here’s a brief overview: 🇲🇽Mexican New Year (Nochevieja): In Mexico, New Year's Eve (Nochevieja) is celebrated with festive parties, fireworks, and the tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight, each grape symbolizing a wish for the upcoming year. This tradition is common in most of the South-American countries. 🇵🇭Filipino New Year (Media Noche): Media Noche is the Filipino New Year celebration marked by a midnight feast. Round-shaped foods symbolize prosperity, and there is a tradition of making loud noises, such as using firecrackers, to drive away evil spirits. 🇮🇹Italy: Red Underwear Tradition: Wearing red underwear on New Year's Eve is believed to bring good luck and prosperity. 🇩🇪Germany: Bleigießen: A traditional activity involves melting lead and then pouring it into cold water to predict the future based on the resulting shapes. 🇬🇧United Kingdom: First-Footing: The first person to enter a home after midnight (the "First Footer") is believed to bring good luck. 🇹🇷Turkey: Pomegranate: The vibrant red color of the pomegranate is often associated with positive energy and abundance. As the fruit bursts open, scattering its seeds, it is believed to symbolize the scattering of negativity and the welcoming of new beginnings. 🇨🇦Canada: New Year's Day Polar Bear Plunge: Some Canadians participate in the tradition of taking a dip in icy waters on New Year's Day for good health.
