At the DISCOM Conclave 2024 organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi, CMD, PTC, Dr. Rajib Kumar Mishra as the Chief Guest of the event led discussions on the continuing evolution of India’s power distribution sector with smart grids, smart metering, and renewable energy integration supported by advanced data analytics. Thompson, Amanda Freick and Jessie Peters attended the event, which dove deeply into the future of grid transformation. Some of our key takeaways? ⚡️“Grid-Enhancing Technologies” (GETs) focus on a family of sensors, power flow control devices and data insights tools to strengthen existing transmission system infrastructure; however, grid reliability necessitates that the “last mile” distribution system benefit from a similar class of technologies. 🔌 Customers are feeling the burdens of electricity rates. Utilities and regulators must work together to ensure investment in prudent, cost-effective technologies while preparing for massive increases in demand. 📈 Such demand increases will come from data centers, electric vehicles and other electrification efforts.
