In the last few days, I've been exploring product management opportunities, but I’ve noticed a recurring trend—many recruiters seem to prioritize candidates from tier 1 colleges. But why limit the talent pool to just a few institutions? Why not consider candidates from other colleges who have the same, if not more, potential? The prestige of a college doesn’t always reflect a candidate's true capability or mindset. Many candidates from tier 3 colleges have the drive, passion, and skills that rival those from tier 1 institutions. They just didn’t have access to the same opportunities. It's time to shift the focus to potential over pedigree. Exceptional talent can come from anywhere, and it's about time we embrace that. #Hiring #Talent #Potential #DiversityInHiring #RecruitingInnovation #PotentialOverPedigree

Today, I interviewed a student from one of the top engineering colleges. As I reviewed the projects he had worked on during his studies, I was thrilled to see that, instead of doing the usual projects found on most engineering resumes, he took a different approach. He identified a problem within his institute and developed a SaaS tool to address it, which is now actively used by his college. Even more impressive, he is continuously gathering feedback and refining the tool. Curiously, I asked him why he chose to apply to AllEvents rather than going through the traditional campus placement process. His response was insightful: He heard from a friend who works at AllEvents about our dynamic culture and the exciting growth opportunities we offer, and that made all the difference. At AllEvents, we take great pride in our culture. We believe in creating an environment where every team member can thrive, learn, and grow. It’s not just about filling roles; it’s about building careers and futures. This story is a testament to the power of culture in hiring. It’s not just about what we do, but how we do it that attracts talented individuals. And it’s moments like these that remind us why investing in our people and our culture is so important. We’re excited about the future and are always looking to welcome passionate, talented individuals to our team. If you're looking for a place where you can grow, be inspired, and contribute to something bigger, let's connect! 🚀 #Hiring #CompanyCulture #GrowthOpportunities #AllEvents #Innovation #CareerGrowth

85% of all my hires had NO WORK EXPERIENCE. These folks- 1. Never worked in corporate sector before. 2. Never knew anything about edtech, innovation methods, tech tools. 3. Few of them joined after career breaks post #UPSC prep However, these folks- 1. Went out of their way to prove themselves at GGI. 2. Signed up to learn every day and were comfortable with new territories. 3. Were creative as hell! *** Most managers complicate #hiring unnecessarily. On many occasions, I have an appreciation for #managementconsulting model where young associates from college are armored with capabilities to advise CXOs. Most jobs and roles are trainable! If you are a hiring leader of an organization, know that someone, someday took a chance upon you in life. It's time you pay that back ❤️.

IT Engineers Graduating in 2024: Navigating the Tough Job Market! The job market might be tough right now, but don't worry, try this strategy and let me know if it works! Here are three steps to get you started: Identify the Predominant Tech Stack: Research the companies you're interested in and find out the tech stack they primarily use. Knowing this will give you a targeted approach and help you align your skills with what they need. Create a Comprehensive Project: Once you know the tech stack, work on a project that showcases your skills. Make it thorough and relevant, demonstrating your ability to tackle real-world problems and contribute effectively from day one. Reach Out with Confidence: Contact the company with your project, explaining how your skills and the project make you an ideal candidate. Show them that you're ready to hit the ground running and make a difference. I'll be sharing the exact curriculum and skills we're looking for in the comments section. This will give you a clear roadmap to tailor your learning and projects. Let's turn these challenging times into an opportunity for growth and success! #JobSearch #Graduates2024 #TechSkills #CareerAdvice #JobHunt #DreamJob #TechIndustry #CareerGrowth

As a long-time tech leader, I've seen firsthand how our obsession with credentials is exacerbating the skills shortage. It's time for a radical shift in how we approach hiring and talent development. Here's why: 1. Degrees ≠ Skills • Many crucial tech skills are learned outside traditional education • Rapid tech evolution outpaces curriculum updates 2. Experience > Certificates • Real-world problem-solving trumps theoretical knowledge • Self-taught innovators often outperform their credentialed peers 3. We're overlooking hidden talent • Non-traditional backgrounds often bring fresh perspectives • Diverse experiences lead to more innovative solutions So, what's the solution? • Skill-based hiring: Focus on what candidates can do, not what's on their resume • Apprenticeship models: Invest in on-the-job training and mentorship • Continuous learning: Prioritize adaptability and willingness to learn over static qualifications • Portfolio-based assessment: Judge candidates on their work, not their credentials It's time to value skills, passion, and potential over pieces of paper. This shift won't be easy, but it's necessary to address the skills shortage and build more dynamic, innovative teams. How has credentialism affected your career or hiring practices? #UnpopularTruth #SkillsOverDegrees #TechTalent #HiringInnovation #FutureOfWork #CredentialismDebate
