🌟 Reflecting on an inspiring day at the Women in Business & Tech event yesterday I had the privilege of attending a series of thought-provoking sessions that delved into the world of women in business and tech. The event was full of insights, I have shared below some of my highlights: I spoke to the following inspiring companies: 🚀 AMS Talent Lab: Struggling to hire tech talent? Create it! Everybody needs tech skills. But supplies are limited. At the last count, businesses globally were around 1 million tech workers short—and the figure is growing every day. Organisations relying solely on experienced talent are in danger of missing out. So, what’s the answer? Add skilling, upskilling and reskilling solutions to the mix. Multiply and amplify your available channels. And take control of your tech talent supply. 💪 LMF Network: Is a social enterprise on a mission to close the gender gap by empowering women through skills, networks, and confidence globally. 🌐 Shecancode.io: Committed to closing the gender gap in tech, they support women in entering, thriving, and excelling in the tech industry while aiding companies in diversifying their workforce. 🔍 The Others & Me: A specialist consultancy that leverages gender as a strategic innovation tool, unlocking often-overlooked growth opportunities. I personally found the following sessions helpful for growing my business: 🤝 Cracking the Networking Code 🔍 Exposing the Con in Confidence 📈 Using LinkedIn to Increase Your Leads I also had the opportunity to meet some inspiring people, each with their unique aspirations and stories. From those embarking on career changes to others, like me, eager to learn and connect, the day was full of enthusiasm. Let's keep the conversation going and continue championing diversity and progress in the world of business and technology 💼💡 #WomenInBusiness #TechDiversity #NetworkingSuccess

Laying it bare, has diversity in tech truly moved at all in the last ten years? 🙄 I've been actively involved in the DE&I agenda for over 10 years, around the same time I've been in tech organisations. Reading report after report it's becoming more and more challenging to keep optimistic whilst on the journey to drive change. A huge thank you to the not for profit Tech Talent Charter who's released their 2024 report that is full of rich insight expanding across many intersectionality's. However, reading through it none of it will come as a surprise 🤷♀️ As the authors state they "share a warning that painstakingly-won D&I progress is at risk of being lost, and if we continue with the current trajectory it’s going to get worse. What we need is for business leaders to commit to sustained, intentional effort that shows they are serious about diversity and inclusion, not for the optics, but because they truly care about people and they know that D&I has a powerful impact on the productivity, competitiveness and resilience of their business." Here's just a page that shows yet again that women are leaving roles that aren't flexible and for those at the back FLEXIBLE WORKING IS NOT JUST HYBRID. Time for our allies to step up and those holding progress back to step aside #womenintech #dei #techtalent

Senior Data & AI Recruitment Specialist at VANRATH | 💬"Data is the new oil. It's valuable, but if unrefined it cannot really be used." 🗨️
🚨 Tech Talent Charter's Latest Diversity & Inclusion Report 🚨 Yesterday, the Tech Talent Charter unveiled its annual diversity in tech report, a crucial document that sheds light on the state of diversity and inclusion (D&I) within the UK tech sector. With data collected from over 700 signatory organisations, this report is a beacon for understanding and improving diversity in our industry. 🔍 Key Findings: 📍 Only 29% of UK tech employees are women or non-binary. 📍 Women or non-binary individuals make up 20% of software engineers and 21% of senior tech role holders. 📍 Ethnic minorities represent 25% of the UK tech workforce, with 5% being Black. 📍 A mere 0.17% of tech employees identified as trans, highlighting a significant gap compared to the broader UK population. 📍 Neurodivergent individuals and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are significantly underrepresented in tech. This data paints a stark picture: the progress we've pledged towards enhancing D&I in tech is waning. Initiatives are being sidelined, and D&I roles are facing cuts, all while the need for diverse perspectives in tech has never been more critical. 💡 The Path Forward: The Tech Talent Charter reminds us that improving D&I isn't just for optics—it's about genuinely caring for people and recognising the immense value diversity brings to productivity, competitiveness, and resilience in business. 🙏 A huge thank you to all the signatories who contributed to this vital report. Your commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion in tech is the first step toward a more equitable industry. Let's not backtrack on the hard-won progress we've made. It's time for business leaders to recommit to D&I, not just in words but in sustained, intentional actions. Because when we enrich our workforces with diverse talent, we don't just do right by our employees; we propel our businesses and society forward. #DiversityInTech #InclusionMatters #TechTalentCharter

💡Did you know? Underrepresented groups face numerous challenges in accessing and thriving within the #techindustry. Here's what's holding back talent: 📚 Lack of access to education & training ⚖️ Unconscious bias in hiring & promotions 😕 Unwelcoming work environments 🤝 Limited mentorship & networking opportunities The journey to diversify #tech is not just about filling roles; it's about enriching our industry with different perspectives and solutions. Yet, gaining experience or switching roles within tech seems almost Herculean without the right opportunities. 👩💻 With a looming labour shortage estimated at 40,000 positions by 2030 in the Swiss tech sector alone, and women making up only 16% of IT professionals, it's clear: We can't afford to overlook this talent pool. Let's commit to breaking down these barriers. Together, we can unlock the full potential of the tech industry. 💪 Learn more about women++ ➡️ www.womenplusplus.ch #womenplusplus #DiversityinTech #TechInclusion #WomenInTech

Managing Director @ CTA - Helping people into the world of tech while advising technology leaders on the UK talent market and helping grow their teams
I'm heading over to Platform tomorrow to join Tech Talent Charter & Channel 4 on the Diversity in Tech Roadshow. TTC recently undertook research with research and data partner, Attest, to understand what causes women to leave tech jobs and the tech workforce. Key findings from the report include: - 1 in 3 women are planning to leave their tech job. - 1 in 4 women who left a tech job in the last few years left for a non-tech job. - Only 1 in 6 women who have been in their tech role for more than a year are planning to stay. - 4 out of 5 women said that dissatisfaction with their career development impacted their decision to leave their tech role. - Work-life balance was ranked the most important factor in women’s decisions to leave their tech role, often linked to challenges managing caring commitments. - Women in tech with flexible work arrangements had significantly higher retention. - Nearly 40% of women agreed that caring commitments influenced their decision to leave their tech job, but only 11.4% of them actually left the workforce to do this. - Pay dissatisfaction is one of the top factors motivating women to move jobs, and was often linked to the cost of living crisis and childcare high costs. Full link to the report is in the comments... Don't know what TTC is , you should, happy to talk you through it :)
