Dear 3-year-old me,
I am so thrilled to be writing to you, my younger and curious self. I hope this letter finds you filled with joy and a hunger to explore the wonders of the world around you.
I know how much you love building things and unraveling their mysteries, and I want to empower you to follow that passion with all your heart.
As you grow up, some people may tell you that 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 is a job only for men, or that girls shouldn't be interested in math and science. I want you to know that they are mistaken. There are countless remarkable women engineers out there who are making incredible things happen, and you can be one of them too!
Here are some important things I want you to remember as you embark on your engineering journey:
🌟 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.Engineering is all about problem-solving, and the first step to solving a problem is understanding it. If there's something you don't understand, don't hesitate to ask someone to explain it to you politely. It's perfectly okay not to know something, and the more you learn, the better equipped you'll be to solve problems.
🌟 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁.Engineering can be challenging at times, but don't give up. If you encounter obstacles, take a step back, view the problem from a different perspective, and try again. Sometimes it takes a few attempts to get things right, but the feeling of finally solving a problem is absolutely worth it. Remember, never let yourself be trampled on, my dear. Stand up for yourself politely but firmly.
🌟 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. Engineering is rarely a solitary endeavor. You'll need to collaborate with others, and that's a wonderful thing. Each person brings their own unique perspective and skills to the table, and by working together, you can achieve more than you ever could alone. However, always remember to assert yourself respectfully and make sure your voice is heard.
🌟 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. Engineering is always evolving, and there's a constant stream of new knowledge to discover. Whether it's a new programming language, an innovative manufacturing process, or a cutting-edge tool, maintain your curiosity and keep exploring. The more you learn, the more you'll contribute to the field. And remember, never let anyone undermine your worth. You have the right to be treated with respect.
Lastly, I want you to know that 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. You will become part of a community filled with intelligent, determined, and imaginative individuals who are changing the world for the better.
So continue building, tinkering, and dreaming big, my dear. You have the strength and enthusiasm within you to face any challenges that may come your way. And never, ever let yourself be trampled on.
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵.
With love,
Your future self,
